cannot access any exe files - Windows XP

Hi,

 

Something strange has happened to my PC in that all my icons on my desktop all seem to be ie icons with the suffix of .lnk on the end.

Whats more I cant run any exe files at all.

Would be most grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction of a fix.

A malware analyst will assist you with this.

 

If the system is so crippled that you cannot even run the requested diagnostic scans, then please just start a new post in the malware removal section >>HERE<< anyway, explaining the situation.

The experts will have some other, specialized tools to help you.
