Folder view options won't save after Trojan removal

Recommended Posts

Earlier this week, my Anti-virus detected a Trojan while I was browsing the internet and immediately, I moved it into the Vault. After that however, I noticed that my system had a random lag every minute or so. Since my system is really old, I thought nothing of it. However, yesterday, once again while browsing the internet, my Anti-virus detected a Trojan and was moved to the vault once again. I did a Full Virus Scan on my System last night, and it found 3 Trojans:

Trojan horse Generic28.BLMM was found in 2 different areas.

Trojan horse Crypt.AWZR

After the scan was done, they were moved to the Vault. Afterwards, I restarted my system, and everything returned to normal. I no longer had any kind of lag. However, my Folder Viewing Options are no longer saving. If I go into a folder, and change it so that I view it as a "List" and set it to "Date Modified, etc.", the settings change once I leave that folder and it reverts back to default. I tried going into my Folder Options and made sure "Remember each folder's view settings" was checked. I even tried unchecking it and rechecking it, but it didn't work. Before I removed the Trojans, I did not have this problem, it only started after they were removed. A friend said it might be possible that the trojan did some damage. I haven't noticed any other problems besides this. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to fix this issue.

This is my HijackThis log from yesterday BEFORE the Trojans were removed:

Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)

First thing you need to do is update Windows to SP 3

You need to apply Service Pack 3 for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection. Click here:

Apply the update, reboot, and let me know how it's running.
