kprime18 Posted April 24, 2012 ID:545393 Share Posted April 24, 2012 Hi,I'm getting a UAC prompt ("Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your system?") when I try to start Malwarebytes. I'd to know if this normal, because I read somewhere that the real malwarebytes does not issue this prompt. However from reading some posts on this forum about the same thing, I get that it's supposed to work that way. The reason I'm concerned is because Avira recently detected Malwarebytes as a trojan, but I was told that it was a false positive. Also I downloaded Malwarebytes from download.cnet.com and not from the official site. I believe that download.com is a legitimate site. Am I correct to assume this?Thank you.
DarkSnakeKobra Posted April 24, 2012 ID:545398 Share Posted April 24, 2012 Yes Malwarebytes' requires administrative privileges in order to function properly so you will receive prompts upon running it.Yes Cnet is an official download provider for Malwarebytes'. Malwarebytes' does not host it themselves and such uses a link that randomly transfers to a series of download sites such as MajorGeeks, Cnet etc where you download it.
