I've recently installed Malwarebytes Corporate v1.51.2.1300 on about nearly 1800 machines and we've started experiencing an issue where the PC freezes for about 10 minutes, then comes back to life. Most people don't wait that long before cold booting but that's another post. We also use Sophos v9.5 for security software.

I noticed after the PC un-froze there were about 20 entries for SAVonaccesscontrol process errors in the event log.

I've added these files to the exclude in sophos, both scanning and on-access scanning.

•C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

•C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe

•C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

It seems to have helped, but some computers are still locking up, only now there are no errors in the event log. My thinking was that maybe Malwarebytes was actively scanning the Sophos processes and that was creating the same issue. It's a little less frequent now but still occuring.

Our PCs are mostly XP but we have about 300 Win7 with more coming.

So, couple of questions;

Does Malwarbytes write to the event logs, if not where can I find if MBAM had an error and caused the hangs?

Should I add the Sophos files to the ignore list and how could I do this for the 1800 machines without loosing my mind?

Any other suggestions?
