  1. @dlb well, if you uncheck then recheck the boxes for "check for update" and "scan" under the protection tab and you don't get the IPersist error message, then most likely it is fixed.
  2. I see your point, but the only problem I can see in your statement is "When or if it comes up as it did here then support will assist the user. " Apparently, 'support' was unable to assist the user, the problem went on for sometime and nobody in 'support' could figure it out. Just ask EL34 how long he waited for a fix, if it wasn't for me solving the issue, who knows if 'support' would have ever done anything with it. Especially, when some of their staff find the discussions here humorous, unlike their users that are just looking for help, I'm sure.
  3. They should add that for ANY Windows service their app relies on to work correctly, YES.
  4. You're confused, if an app needs to use task scheduler, it should notify the user(s) by way of a proper error message that reads "task scheduler service is not running, updates and scans will not execute until the service has been enabled". Simple Dude.
  5. Right, well I think Black Viper was the reason I disabled mine. If you you run the default XP services, I find a lot of them are just sucking ram and not being used, like 'remote registry' Don't need it, don't want it.
  6. So let me get this straight, you're saying it's the users fault and not how the app was written? I mean if the app depends on a windows service, shouldn't it notify the user if that service is not running instead of just generating some cryptic error message? Most of the apps that I run don't use Scheduled Tasks to run their updates or their scan schedules.
  7. Remember also, you can jump over to my forum for other help too. I just put it up so "register" and help me get it going.
  8. Thanks for the recognition EL34, I was glad to help. As far as knowing everything about malware and going to malware school as was suggested. I really don't need to know a lot about malware to support an app, I just need to know why the app itself is not behaving properly and investigate the issue(s) and solve it for the users. If a company makes a product and can't investigate and solve its users issues then I'm sure the users will move to another product that does. I'd be happy with a free 5 user license so I could install the app on all my machines :-) You can email them to me with one click.
  9. Great, glad I could help. Maybe Malwarebytes will send me a check for supporting their product. I want everyone to send them an email demanding I receive some sort of compensation ;-0
  10. I think I may have figured out why this is happening to everyone. I found 2 malwarebytes entries in control panel > scheduled tasks, I tried to 'run' them both and got a service could not start error. After further investigation I found that I had disabled the Task Scheduler service on my machine. Check to see if your Task Scheduler service is running on your system.
