  1. The PC has been disconnected from the internet and has no connection for a few days now. Before, it was reformatting fine, but I think the virus has somehow interfered with the formatting of the drive...
  2. There has been no replacing of backups at all, and I can't format and reinstall because files go missing on the disk during installation.
  3. Hey, I would like some live help in the most perplexing computer virus I have ever encountered. I currently enrolled in the Boot Camp, however this goes far beyond anything I've seen in my two years of malware removal I just finished reformatting and reinstalling the OS (windows XP sp1a was the only disk) and after running a malwarebytes, I got over 2000 infected files. Five minutes after I finished downloading Windows. I would have liked to produce a log, but shortly after running The only symptoms is a BSoD whenever I install a driver or try a countermeasure. I will be here for the next 2 hours straight trying to solve this problem so I'm up for anything biggrin.gif Please also mention what measures I can take so that the computer that I'm using to load up programs with won't get infected. I have not tried any other modes or measures as of yet. Thanks, Starblaster1234 EDIT: I also tried updating the BIOS...not too helpful there... (A12 Dimension BIOS...the link didn't work) I have two HijackThis files. One is from before I reformatted, one is from after, and they're both useless but here ya go: BEFORE AFTER I also have an RSIT scan (which is useless) log.txt info.txt Those are all the logs that would run (I can try anything) And here are some errors with boot CD's Dr.Web LiveCD Error http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/505/0815092202.jpg Avira AntiVir Error (you have to see this one) http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/5359/0815092220.jpg Kaspersky Error http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/233/0815092230.jpg I'm currently a helper-in-training over at spywareinfoforum.com and this is way over my head. After trying to format and restore a second time, hoping that I could run malwarebytes again and see the name this time, the malware interfered with the format and restore by saying a some files were missing and stopped the setup right there. So now I have no OS, but the malware is still there. What should I do? Thanks, Starblaster1234
  4. If you read some of the topics that are pinned above, it suggests not to post after your own topic unless it's been 48 hours since you posted it because they won't know that you haven't been helped yet. I am not one of the "official administrators" that help people out, I'm just trying my hand at it. Can you run a hijackthis? and what is it saying once you click on malwarebytes that makes it not run?
  5. Please post a hijackthis so we can stop the process that is regenerating this file. For instructions please check the pinned topics of the forum.
  6. Okay, here's my issue. I'm fixing a computer for a friend (which limits the amount of tests I can run on it) but here are the problems that it experiences. When I run malwarebytes during a normal boot, I get the error: 703 (0, 9) and it tells me to report it to you guys. I left it sitting there and the computer shut down because of a "serious error" Next thing I tried was uninstalling Malwarebytes, restarting, running the cleanup, restarting, and reinstalling malwarebytes by renaming the .exe for the installer and the program. I updated with no problems and started the quickscan. 2 seconds later after clicking "Scan", I got another BSoD stating something about a bad_pool_caller. Each time I get a BSoD it's a different error so I would like some guidence on what to try next. You will see that the hijackthis report is in Safe mode (I don't remember if that compromises results or not) because there is a BSoD after a certain amount of time on the regular startup. 8. Also (sorry for triple post) Some gambling site comes up
  9. Also, I get a cli.exe - application error every time my computer starts up. it says "The application filed to initialize properly (0xc000007b). Click OK to terminate the application." Also, my printer comes up with the same error and DAEMONSearchBar comes up with "Error: Engine loading was failed"
  10. The symptoms are that malwarebytes can not remove it, new viruses show up every time I run the scan even though I delete them all every time, I can not access certain antivirus sites (including malwarebytes.org), Worm.Autorun and Trojan.Agent show up for every malwarebytes scan, and I have *.tmp and VRT*.tmp where * is a random number Okay...so here is my most recent malwarebytes scan (probably isn't updated because I can't get to malwarebytes andi can't find any other patches). 13. Well, I know a lot about computers, but my knowledge is very limited in this case of booting windows to a CD or Flash Drive. I have a Dell Demension 8300. I've even tried going into Setup and setting the boot order to run the CD-ROM first. I am still quite unconvinced that the problem does not lie with the error that I received while finishing the installation, or with the CD itself. Could you please verify if my suspicions are correct?
  14. Well I pressed F8 on my computer and it really didn't work...I can try again but I'm not sure it will work. Do you think that error had to do with it at all?
  15. Well you see, I used a DVD and told it to burn to the DVD. It said it had problems with some .key file and finished. But whenever I try to boot it to the DVD, it just boots up like regular. Do I need to move around the files or something?
  16. Hey, I tried doing this but I was unable to boot Windows to the CD. Could you please expand your directions as to be very detailed and include every click? I'm sorry to make it difficult on you, but I have no prior knowledge of doing this. My CD drive is the D: drive, and do I have to reformat the disk too or something? Sorry...
  17. This virus/trojan/whatever pops up as soon as Windows (XP) boots and shows a bunch of multi-colored boxes in boxes and rectangles and whatever. When booting to safe mode, the screen just stays black and no safe mode is booted. How can mbam defeat this? Can anyone name this virus? That would be a very helpful start... Pictures will be coming soon. Feel free to ask any questions that may help
  18. Wrap-Up: Okay...I decided to take a risk and run it as usual...turns out that my only problem was an outdated version of Malwarebytes. Thank you Advanced Setup! Is there anything else I can do as a followup to make sure I deleted all the viruses?
  19. Attached you will find a picture (with my phone...sorry for the quality) of the BSoD I was getting.
