Does it need to update from the Internet because it still won't connect?

I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I have the desktop back and it seems to be working fine. Shall I still attach the log, if so what would it be called?

Is it meant to start up normally, I mean without the command prompt, or should something have come up before Windows loaded?

The copied file, is that 'Overwrite C:\WINNT\system32\uxtheme.dll? <Yes/No/ALL>:' ?

Right ok I see what you're on about, but whenever I enter in 'explorer.exe' it comes up with the theme32.dll error. And when I type in 'CD\C:\winnt' it comes up with 'the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect'.

I still don't quite get what you mean. In the window I'm supposed to have: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] <C> Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. But am I meant to have: C:\Documents and Settings\Megs> or is that where I need to put EXPLORER.EXE. I'm a little confused about what you mean.

Yes I have the window. Where am I copying the EXPLORER.EXE?

With the first task, typing in 'cmd' in the 'run line', should it come up with a box called 'C:WINNT\system32\cmd.exe. The answers probably yes but the next bit doesn't seem to make sense when you mention a folder.

It won't connect to the internet.

When I typed explorer.exe it said it was unable to locate componant.

I still don't get any prompt for the system choice.

Should this lead me to the safe mode command prompt? Because it's just started up normally.

It's not starting in safe mode.

It isn't coming up with a prompt to choose which system I want.

I found new user. It's in the group membership that I check Other then click on Administrators, right?

I can't see an option for a new user. Do I click on an existing one and rename it?
