  1. You make good points! I'll count myself as lucky that I'm sailing on calm seas.
  2. I don't mean to be dense here, or uncaring, because I'm not that kind of person - but the truth is - I've never had a moments problem with MWB. (knock on wood) Even on my old computer, which had such low memory that MWB couldn't perform properly, I never had a crash or anything like that. So it mystifies me when I see so many people having such serious problems. As my user name testifies, I don't know much at all about computers or how to do much of anything. Yet I've never had the problems I see folks posting about. I'm glad there are people here to help, that's a wonderful thing.
  3. #1 - Thank you, that worked! #2 - Well I just got the MWB installed this morning, so I'm hoping to prevent a problem. #3 - Okay, thanks, good to know.
  4. I bought the Premium version back in 2010 (lifetime). I recently bought a new computer and transfered my account to this new computer. Here are my questions: Question #1: In the program, I can't find a way to disable automatic scans. I can change the date and time, but I can't find a way to disable it completely. Is there a way to do that? Question #2: I also have Avast, the free version. My Premium MWB runs in real time, and so does the Avast. Will this cause conflictions? MWB and Avast both run at Start Up, and both check for database updates at Start Up. I need to make sure these 2 programs don't conflict with each other, but I'm not sure how to do that. Question #3: I have another computer I'm not using now, but will be using it AND this computer in the near future. Does my MWB Premium Account allow me to have MWB on more than one computer? My system is Windows 7 Pro Browsers are IE11 and Firefox.
  5. Either way is fine, thanks so much. I suddenly feel like I am in "safe arms"! Many many thanks! Do we have a huggy smile? (((((hugs)))))
  6. Very good advice about putting something in my sig, thanks! I'll try and do that, maybe tomorrow.
  7. No rush, I'm fine. Computer is humming right along. Anytime is fine. You did fine, you were very kind and helpful. I was just at my wits end. It wasn't you, it was me. I was beside myself with worry. I've since calmed down. I'm very new to this, and uninformed, and it is frightening to be in that situation. I have a better understanding of this board now, so, hopefully, I won't be such a pain in the future.
  8. Oh thank you! The tech who helped me in the other forum, Dave, he recommended the ATF Cleaner or CCleaner, so I will have to get that for sure!
  9. I saw where someone else (in their sig) said they used "Online Armor", I will have to try that, thanks!
  10. Thanks mountaintree, that sounds great! I can't do it tonight, maybe tomorrow night you can help me with that? Thanks so much! I wanted to apologize to you for my impatience in the other thread. I was VERY frustrated, confused, basically lost here, and unaware of the protocol. So sorry. (((hugs)))
  11. At "ask Leo", he recommends a lot of different programs: http://ask-leo.com/what_security_software_..._recommend.html I already have: Malwarebytes paid version. Avira free version. Windows XP firewall. Do I need to get Microsoft Defender or Spybot Search and Destroy? Are those programs (Defender and Spybot) compatable with Malwarebytes? Thanks for help.
  12. Dave, thanks so much for all your help! I appreciate it very much. You've helped me a lot.
  13. It's about time, huh. I'm running scans with Malwarebytes and Avira everyday, coming up clean since Tuesday. What do you recommend for getting rid of tracking cookies? I have about 300 of them. (sorry to be asking so many questions)
  14. Yes, XP Professional, and XP firewall. IE7. Oh wow, I didn't think of that. So true, very true. I might have been infected for a long time and didn't even know it. Ugh!
  15. Btw, for what it's worth, I didn't have ANY protection at all before I got the malwarebytes. Well, I had an old version of AVG, but I never used it because it ate up all my resources. So anyway, I got an infection back in March, got the Malwarebytes, and it found a worm. Then a month later, to the day, I got hit again, and Malwarebytes found 4 "Fake.Alerts". After I came here, this week, I got the Avira, and it found 4 more infections. Since then, it found 2 more. So the programs ARE working well, doing their job. The "odd" thing is I've never had an infection before, ever. And now, all of a sudden, I seem to be getting hit regularly. A question about my firewall, please. When I first got infected in March, I found a lot of holes in my firewall. I closed them ALL up. After that, I bought an online backup program called Carbonite. I couldn't get it to download, so an online tech from Carbonite "took control of my computer" and downloaded it for me. So I told him about my firewall, and he went in there and opened up 3 ports! I don't think I should have to have 3 ports open, do you? Anyway, I wonder if that might be how I am continuing to be infected. Thanks again.
  16. Thanks Dave. Yes, I really need to find a good tech in my area. I live out in the boonies, so my choices are few. I've tried a couple, but I need to look again. And I should probably get a second computer as a backup to this one, something I've been thinking about lately. Thanks, Judi
  17. Thanks for your reply. I will have to try later. I'm afraid I might not be successful, and I might end up causing more harm to my computer than a virus could do. I work from home and use this computer to run a business program, so I can't risk "the nut behind the keyboard" making a mess of things. But can you tell me please, are the problems I described possible symptoms of an infection? Thanks.
  18. That makes sense, thanks. Maybe a mod can edit it for me? I've since discovered that Avira has ready access to their logs. They call them "reports", and all I need to do is click on reports and there they are. (Earlier in this thread, someone agreed with me that Avira doesn't create logs, which is not true. Avira DOES create logs, but they call them reports.)
  19. Oh, I didn't know that, so sorry. I actually tried to delete the log, but I couldn't find an edit button. Are we not allowed to edit our posts? BTW, I meant to tell, you, thanks so much for your offer to help me. I appreciate it very much.
  20. I did NOT ask for log analysis, I clearly said that I was posting the log for this reason: "The following is ONLY made for my own reference. A place holder, if you will." http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...st&p=241144 I posted the disclaimer BEFORE I posted the log, just to let folks know that I was NOT asking for log analysis. And then I get 3 members accusing me of asking for assistance in this thread, when I have NOT done that. (The reason I posted the log was for my OWN future reference, because I was afraid I would lose it, because I am still learning the Avira program, and I wasn't sure if I could go back and find it IF someone asked me for it later on in the other forum.)
  21. If Malwarebytes wishes to cater to paying customers, then they need to improve their way of dealing with paying customers. This website, which requests paying customers wait for days on end for assistance, is not conducive to good business. And when a paying customer is reprimanded for what they choose to post in a thread, it speaks volumes as to the service here. Like I said, I will find help elsewhere.
  22. Here is what they said to me: See-Kit Lam, Mar 29 16:57 (PDT): Judy: You don't have to disable IP protection. To access a site that is currently blocked that you wish to view, you may add it to the IP Protection ignore list(v1.42 required) as described below: Navigate to the page, right-click the Malwarebytes system tray icon(near clock) and select an IP or all IPs listed and they will now be added to the ignore option and listed in the 'Ignore' tab. You may need to refresh the page to access the site. To remove IPs from ignore, open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and once open, there will be a series of tabs, labeled in order: Scanner | Protection | Update | Quarantine | Logs | Ignore list | Settings | More Tools | About Click the 'Ignore' tab. Then highlight an IP listed and then click the 'Remove' button. The IP in question should now be viewable. You may need to refresh the page. If you feel an IP is incorrectly categorized as malicious, then you must post in our False Positives forum to get any information as to why it is blocked and how it can be removed. Helpdesk cannot assist with any of that: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showforum=42
  23. Excuse me?? I'm not allowed to post in my own thread?? I am regreting I ever bought this program! I will seek help elsewhere. What a waste of money!
  24. Well I looked through that forum, and I saw where some folks were never helped. Just my 2 cents, I think there needs to be a priority for paying customers. Maybe that is something that should be considered. I recently bought "Carbonite" backup, and I have a phone number where I can speak to a person live. And get all the help I need. With Malwarebytes, I have only email help, and they referred me to this board.
