  1. You make good points! I'll count myself as lucky that I'm sailing on calm seas.
  2. I don't mean to be dense here, or uncaring, because I'm not that kind of person - but the truth is - I've never had a moments problem with MWB. (knock on wood) Even on my old computer, which had such low memory that MWB couldn't perform properly, I never had a crash or anything like that. So it mystifies me when I see so many people having such serious problems. As my user name testifies, I don't know much at all about computers or how to do much of anything. Yet I've never had the problems I see folks posting about. I'm glad there are people here to help, that's a wonderful thing.
  3. #1 - Thank you, that worked! #2 - Well I just got the MWB installed this morning, so I'm hoping to prevent a problem. #3 - Okay, thanks, good to know.
  4. I bought the Premium version back in 2010 (lifetime). I recently bought a new computer and transfered my account to this new computer. Here are my questions: Question #1: In the program, I can't find a way to disable automatic scans. I can change the date and time, but I can't find a way to disable it completely. Is there a way to do that? Question #2: I also have Avast, the free version. My Premium MWB runs in real time, and so does the Avast. Will this cause conflictions? MWB and Avast both run at Start Up, and both check for database updates at Start Up. I need to make sure these 2 programs don't conflict with each other, but I'm not sure how to do that. Question #3: I have another computer I'm not using now, but will be using it AND this computer in the near future. Does my MWB Premium Account allow me to have MWB on more than one computer? My system is Windows 7 Pro Browsers are IE11 and Firefox.
  5. Either way is fine, thanks so much. I suddenly feel like I am in "safe arms"! Many many thanks! Do we have a huggy smile? (((((hugs)))))
  6. Very good advice about putting something in my sig, thanks! I'll try and do that, maybe tomorrow.
  7. No rush, I'm fine. Computer is humming right along. Anytime is fine. You did fine, you were very kind and helpful. I was just at my wits end. It wasn't you, it was me. I was beside myself with worry. I've since calmed down. I'm very new to this, and uninformed, and it is frightening to be in that situation. I have a better understanding of this board now, so, hopefully, I won't be such a pain in the future.
  8. Oh thank you! The tech who helped me in the other forum, Dave, he recommended the ATF Cleaner or CCleaner, so I will have to get that for sure!
  9. I saw where someone else (in their sig) said they used "Online Armor", I will have to try that, thanks!
  10. Thanks mountaintree, that sounds great! I can't do it tonight, maybe tomorrow night you can help me with that? Thanks so much! I wanted to apologize to you for my impatience in the other thread. I was VERY frustrated, confused, basically lost here, and unaware of the protocol. So sorry. (((hugs)))
  11. At "ask Leo", he recommends a lot of different programs: http://ask-leo.com/what_security_software_..._recommend.html I already have: Malwarebytes paid version. Avira free version. Windows XP firewall. Do I need to get Microsoft Defender or Spybot Search and Destroy? Are those programs (Defender and Spybot) compatable with Malwarebytes? Thanks for help.
  12. Dave, thanks so much for all your help! I appreciate it very much. You've helped me a lot.
  13. It's about time, huh. I'm running scans with Malwarebytes and Avira everyday, coming up clean since Tuesday. What do you recommend for getting rid of tracking cookies? I have about 300 of them. (sorry to be asking so many questions)
  14. Yes, XP Professional, and XP firewall. IE7. Oh wow, I didn't think of that. So true, very true. I might have been infected for a long time and didn't even know it. Ugh!
