  1. It always does that, but they work pretty good as a complements. If you experience lagging due to lack of resources, you can disable Adwatch or Tea timer. They are both the real time protection offered. It should be noted that both will intervene if modifications are done to the registry. If during a Windows Update they do not allow registry changes, you will need to disable both to allow those changes. To disabled Ad-Aware Ad-Watch. Launch Ad-Aware and click on the "Switch to Advanced Mode" button Click on "Settings" button to disable Ad-Watch in Ad-Aware Switch to the "Ad Watch Live!" tab, uncheck all Ad-Watch Live! Modules and click on "OK" button to save changes Now, you have successfully disabled Ad-Aware Ad-Watch. To Disable Teatimer First: Right click Spybot in the System Tray (looks like a calendar with a padlock symbol) Choose Exit Spybot S&D Resident Second: Open Spybot S&D Click Mode, check Advanced Mode Go To Left Panel, Click Tools, then also in left panel, click Resident If your firewall raises a question, say OK Uncheck the box labeled Resident Tea-Timer and OK any prompts. Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.
  2. Sure. They are not categorized as AntiVirus or Firewalls. You can have them all. What you can't do is having two antivirus and two firewalls as that will affect the system.
  3. Congratulations. The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again. Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections. AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well. Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there. Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows. Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN) ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed. The standard registry backup options that come with Windows back up most of the registry but not all of it. ERUNT however creates a complete backup set, including the Security hive and user related sections. ERUNT is easy to use and since it creates a full backup, there are no options or choices other than to select the location of the backup files. The backup set includes a small executable that will launch the registry restore if needed. To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Miekiemoes. Best wishes!

Please double-click OTC.exe to run it.
