  1. I just noticed a file called persistent.mb in my phone's main internal storage, with a date of 29th January 2022 on it. I can't remember seeing it before but it was right at the top of the file list. I Googled it, and someone on Reddit thought it was related to Malwarebytes, so I just wanted to check in here if that was the case? The Malwarebytes app certainly hasn't flagged anything! Many thanks in advance.
  2. I've been reading about the latest zero-day vulnerability in the Print Spooler Service, so I was wondering if Malwarebytes guards against it? The MB blog post talked about vulnerable machines on a network, but I wasn't sure what qualifies a machine as being vulnerable. I don't actually have a printer hooked up to my laptop so I could happily disable the Print Spooler Service but I don't know how. Is it necessary?
  3. Here you go. The full system scan just finished and didn't detect anything, so hopefully you'll be able to see what—if anything—is going on! Thank you! mbst-grab-results.zip
  4. I just tried to shut my laptop down and I noticed that an app was preventing shutdown. It said 'escalated privilege file operation daemon', which I've never seen before. It only lasted a few moments before the laptop shut down as normal. I ran Adware Cleaner earlier today which found nothing, and my daily MalwareBytes scans haven't found anything. So I switched my laptop back on and I'm currently running a full system scan, but naturally I'm worried. A few people online seem to think it's related to Adobe Creative Cloud (which I do have installed), and others say it's related to malware. Has anyone come across this before, and if so, should I be concerned, or should I submit logs via the MB support function?
  5. Ah! That would explain why I've never seen it before. Well that's set my mind at rest 😃 Thank you so much for your time!
  6. This is what it shows for this website. So it all looks normal! I'm probably just being paranoid, especially as it wasn't a push notification to the notification tray. And the main MB dashboard looks normal too. The only thing I was wondering is in the settings, it asks if I want to turn off duplicate warnings if I have both BG and Premium, so I wondered if it was referring to that.
  7. Oh I know, I have Browser Guard too :) I just haven't seen that notification asking me to link the two before.
  8. Hello! I got a small notification in the top righthand corner of the screen when I opened Google Chrome asking me to 'Allow' or 'Decline' something in Browser Guard if I have Malwarebytes Premium (which I do). I wasn't quick enough to screenshot it because it disappeared before I could click on either of them, but I just wanted to quickly check that's actually part of Malwarebytes, and not something random? I know that's hard to do without a screenshot but I thought someone might know what I mean!
  9. Hi, I'm trying to update my VLC player from VideoLAN.org, and once I click on the 'download' page (https://get.videolan.org/vlc/3.0.14/win64/vlc-3.0.14-win64.exe) it says it's blocking ftp2.nluug.nl 'due to trojan'. I've always trusted VideoLAN and I can't update my VLC to the latest one automatically because there was a bug in version 3.0.12. Is this really a trojan?
  10. I don't know if this helps anyone - I quarantined the original problem, but I also uninstalled my VLC player. I reinstalled it this morning, again from the VideoLAN website, and AdwCleaner isn't picking anything new up. I also posted about it in the Bleeping Computer forums, and someone asked if the issue had been resolved with the latest AdwCleaner database update.
  11. Yeah, I downloaded VLC from the Video Lan page back in October. I'd never had any detections for anything else until this morning. Which is why I'm wondering why my system suddenly picked up PUP.Optional.VLCPlusPlayer today, when it didn't pick it up two weeks ago—and I haven't installed anything new since then.
  12. I got the same result this morning, though the main Malwarebytes didn't find anything. I did 'quarantine' and let it clean it—after rebooting my machine, AdwCleaner hasn't found anything else. But it would be good to know if this is something worth worrying about or not. AdwCleaner[S05].txt
