  1. I regularly check in on what's left of the Dell Forums and learned about MBAM from those regulars who remain. They have been very helpful with introducing and explaining various security products over the years. I have yet to have MBAM make a detection of anything on either one of my computers. I also use WD, SAS, Spyware Blaster, Avast AV, Online Armor Firewall, A Squared Free on one computer and the full version on the other free of charge thanks to a special promo they ran, and finally Win Patrol and Spybot S&D!!! Whew!! So I run a rather full load of products partly because of the paranoia...the bad guys are really clever, creative, and relentless...and because I like to help test these things out. As presently constituted, there are no apparent conflicts or excessive use of resources from this line up of programs.
  2. I did a quick scan just a bit ago and it came up clean...with no updates since I downloaded version 1.37. This was on my XP computer. On the computer I am writing on now, I downloaded and installed version 1.37 and searched for updates. There was one and it downloaded with no problem or error message. Forgot to mention that both these machines are on dialup...I still am looking for a reasonable provider...Qwest wants me have a "phone package" that will cost more than just my straight land line...but that's another story. Since others seem to have similar problems perhaps there are server issues, so will just keep trying on the other computer...since it is just my backup.
  3. I uninstalled 1.37 and then downloaded it again and looked for updates. None of my settings has changed and my modem seems to be working normally since I am able to update other things. It must be something to do with the servers, because the update seems to start normally, but after about 30 seconds the error message (the timingi out) occurs. I'll try it again tomorrow. I use the free version and the updates are manual.
  4. I am having the same problem with the same basic error message, but it gives the specific error code 732(12002). I tried to update earlier this morning, and tried again just a short time ago with the same results. My other other security products update with no problem. I downloaded the 1.37 version yesterday and and the problems started today. I thought it might be a server problem on your end, but don't see very many posts about it. Every now and then the program seems to self delete "the database could not be found". What I do it that case is just download it again. Should I just go ahead and do that in this case? Thanks for any suggestions.
  5. Same problems as other above have stated. I had to go the MBAM main site to redownload the program. I then used the Malwarebytes.org mirror and got the 1367 KB update downloaded in about 20 minutes on my dialup. But that is much better than 604 KB in 30 minutes on the other link. I am sure the mods will get this fixed as soon as possible...thanks to the popularity and usefulness of the program.
  6. I'm on dialup in an older apartment building...30 something year old phone lines, so it might have dropped out momentarily, but if I remember correctly, the connection was still active. The weird thing is that although the system shows the program is still installed, pressing the MBAM icon doesn't bring anything up except the error message. I have infrequently had problems with some other security programs updating and get error messages which say that they can't connect properly, although I am able to do some lengthly downloads of other files. That hasn't happened too often though. Probably some noise or inteference on the phone lines, don't know if upgrading to broadband would help.
  7. I received the above error code awhile ago when attempting to update MBAM. Since this is the third time that this has happened I know I can download and install the program again and it will work fine for awhile. But I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what might be causing it. Thanks for any help.
  8. For the second time yesterday I received an error message about the database not being found. Thoe "home" or front page of the program would not come up either. I had reported this previously on the Dell Forums a few weeks ago. Couldn't get the link below to post correctly. http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums...d=225566#M67303 I just downloaded and reinstalled the program again because the file is so small. I was wondering what might be causing this minor annoyance, if it is happening to other users, and if a fix is in the works.
