  1. Okay. Of course, just as I was typing the Task Manager shows 100% Disk again & 69% Memory and 27% CPU with Antimalware Service executable being the main user. I presume I leave the MWB settings as you suggested earlier.
  2. Okay, I thought that maybe one of the updates, MWB, Dell or Windows or a combination may have affected the pc. I had read in a MWB thread that some settings of MWB with Windows Defender had caused issues but it doesn't look to be the case here. The pc has sped up now but was unusable during the scan. My son will be back shortly. I'll see what he thinks of it now. There were never ant speed issues before, despite the RAM and HDD. Many thanks for your help.
  3. Hi again. Full scan finished. No threats. Took 3 hours. PC still very slow.
  4. Thanks Porthos. I've had to switch between my son's pc and my laptop, since Google Chrome wasn't responding on my son's pc, but that has resolved and I am back on my son's pc now. I followed your instructions: 1. Restarted the pc. 2. Checked for new Windows Updates - a .NET update required to be installed (note: I had already checked for Windows Updates a few hours ago which required one or two updates) 3. I turned off the setting as shown above and now doing a Full scan with MS Defender. I'm not sure why, but the "Estimated time remaining" to run the full scan is showing as 1h 45mins which is a lot longer than previous full scans on the pc (98,000 files scanned). My son has very few self-installed programs on his pc. Disk still showing 100% on Task Manager. I'll let you know what the Full Scan finds (or doesn't), if I don't hear from you first. Update: the Estimated Time Remaining is incresing all the time: now at 02:39:22 (see attached screenshot).
  5. Thanks 1PW. It's been a while! Thanks for your reply. See mbst-grab-results attached. I'm not pressing any buttons until advised... mbst-grab-results.zip
  6. Hi. After a period of non-use (weeks I think), I installed the latest updates from MWB, Dell and also from Windows onto my son's Dell pc. While there didn't appear to be anything wrong with his pc before the Updates, it has gone very slow, with 100% Disk showing on Task Manager for the first 20 minutes or so. Can I get help with this please?
  7. After the update, both websites still produce warnings about Trojans.
  8. Hi, and thanks for a great service. I'm running Windows 10 and use the latest version of Firefox and MWB Premium. I have had two websites blocked by MWB, last Saturday and again today, Tuesday. Plus I seem to have had an inordinate amount of trackers that were blocked by Firefox today and yesterday, though I was attempting to do some on-line shopping on both days which is a rare occurrence (see Firefox pic below): Sorry about the size of the pic. Anyway, here are the two MWB potential Trojan reports: -Log Details- Protection Event Date: 7/11/20 Protection Event Time: 12:43 PM Log File: c96163b0-c36b-11ea-b229-3cf011237cd2.json -Software Information- Version: 4.1.0.56 Components Version: 1.0.955 Update Package Version: 1.0.26691 License: Premium -System Information- OS: Windows 10 (Build 18362.900) CPU: x64 File System: NTFS User: System -Blocked Website Details- Malicious Website: 1 , C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe, Blocked, -1, -1, 0.0.0 -Website Data- Category: Trojan Domain: pingcharity.co.uk IP Address: 78.137.164.58 Port: 80 Type: Outbound File: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe Protection Event Date: 7/14/20 Protection Event Time: 9:28 PM Log File: 9e64329e-c610-11ea-82a2-3cf011237cd2.json -Software Information- Version: 4.1.0.56 Components Version: 1.0.955 Update Package Version: 1.0.26821 License: Premium -System Information- OS: Windows 10 (Build 18362.900) CPU: x64 File System: NTFS User: System -Blocked Website Details- Malicious Website: 1 , C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe, Blocked, -1, -1, 0.0.0 -Website Data- Category: Trojan Domain: www.glofoxlogin.com IP Address: 190.2.139.23 Port: 443 Type: Outbound File: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe For this last report, in green, I was attempting to go into: https://www.shannonleisurecentre.ie/ The shannon website also produced a Trojan warning on a different Windows 10 laptop, also running MWB premium and with Firefox. For the first report, in blue, I was attempting to visit: pingcharity.co.uk which is shown as the Domain name. This is the first time I have been warned of any Trojan since I installed MWB Premium two or three months ago. All of the MWB scans on each start-up of my laptop have been clean so far. Can you tell me whether these websites have indeed been compromised or is the problem at my end? What should I do? Both website representatives have been contacted to let them know.
  9. Hi Rui. Sorry, but I had to get back in action (been 17 days since problems began). I really appreciate your help - I learned a lot. I now have a fresh install of Windows 10. All is working well: no errors, can access everything (Defender, Search, Device manager...) Will re-install Office 365 Pro and Adobe Reader (I need to make notes on pdf docs) and get back to full time work. I will keep an eye on my hard disk, since it has been suggested that I should invest in a new one. I may also double the amount of RAM when time (and €'s) allow. My files are backed up on external HDD, so will copy them back in as required. Are you okay with this? Regards, Geoff
  10. Hi again. I have successfully uninstalled all MS Office programs, and aim to reinstall Office 365 once Windows 10 is operational. To remind you: the computer crashed after trying to install MySQL. The only way to get the computer to boot up was by using Advanced Options, Startup Settings and choosing Option 7 "disable driver signature enforcement". I am unable to start computer in Safe Mode with Networking (or just in Safe Mode) via Advanced Options, so cannot follow your later instructions. I would like to re-install Windows 10. I have all important files backed up - it is a personal laptop. Do you think I should re-install Windows 10, or keep on trying with the Windows Repair All-in-one? FYI: the cgen toolbar was only in the installed programs by name only. Control Panel asked if I wanted it removed from Programs & Features, so it is gone now.
  11. Hi Rui. I am attempting to uninstall Office 2010 and Office 365. Once complete, I will follow your instructions above. I think I will only re-install Office 365, (which I have a licence for) once we are finished. Thanks for your patience. Geoff
  12. Rui. Thanks for your continued help. I use mostly Excel, MS Word, pdfs and the internet on my computer. Adobe Acrobat Reader and the internet work well, but cannot get Excel or Word to open. The issues with the computer: Restarting from the Windows logo requires the use of Advanced Options, Startup Settings, and option 7 "disable driver signature enforcement". I am not exactly sure what this means. However, if I power down the computer, then start it up with the main power button, the computer starts up as normal, getting to the Login screen in about 15 seconds. The Search window (from taskbar magnifying glass) does not accept any keyboard entries. This has only occurred in last two/three days. It was working beforehand. Although i am the only User, there are two options to login from, both with my name on. I am the Administrator, but I am still blocked from opening Device Manager (and perhaps others) Cannot open Windows Defender GUI, although I can run scans from cmd prompt. I get error code 0x800b0100 when I try to open Windows Defender: in fact this error code is displayed just after logging on with password dgen Toolbar is still showing as being installed, with the same installation date as many other programs (maybe anniversary update). Nothing in MS office 2010 will open(Excel, Word, Access), and Office 365 needs to be uninstalled and re-installed since nothing works from it either. Not sure if this is relevant but Disk, in Task manager sometimes hits 100% and fan runs high. Usually lasts for a few seconds (up to 30 secs) with Service Host (Network Restricted) (9) topping the Processes Disk list. cbs.txt
  13. Hi Rui. Attached CBS.txt and snip showing comments from DISM....RestoreHealth and Scannow. The latter shows "corrupt files.." and "...unable to fix..." CBS.log
