Yes I did. No luck.
The problem is mostly now just with my newish win8.1 box. (For some reason my win 7 box seems to have settled down and mostly gets along with Malwarebytes for the last few days. When it runs into problems I just do without the web protection since I do have Mcafee.)
Today I took the time to work on the still problematic install on my win 8.1 box-- I decided to pull Malwarebytes out fully -- uninstall, delete any remaining processes, clear any registry entries, and remove the directory. Then I downloaded and reinstalled malwarebytes 3.06. After one full restart it's running OK now. Time will tell whether it continues.
I'm sure it wouldn't have been possible for me to do what I did though without knowing what I was doing. This would be impossible for many users. I wish Malwarebytes uninstall worked better.
I'll let you know if it continues to run ok.
One curious thing though -- the original upgrade to 3.06 ran fine on the 8.1 box (it was an automatic one that was managed from within Malwarebytes itself) but a week later it asked for my registration details and then stopped being able to handle web protection from then on.
