  1. Thanks Celee. I may eventually -- if Malwarebytes doesn't have another update soon. I've already given the Malwarebytes issue far too much of my time and need to actually get some work done. Thank goodness for McAfee. Linda
  2. OK. It started to act up the following day with repeated requests to turn on the web protection layers. I then tried first the one approach then the other one. No luck. It's beginning to feel that I work for Malwarebytes rather than my employer. I've never experienced this amount of work trying to get a protection software to work and I've been in the tech field for many years. I'll have to leave this box depending on the Mcafee for web protection. Linda
  3. Yes I did. No luck. The problem is mostly now just with my newish win8.1 box. (For some reason my win 7 box seems to have settled down and mostly gets along with Malwarebytes for the last few days. When it runs into problems I just do without the web protection since I do have Mcafee.) Today I took the time to work on the still problematic install on my win 8.1 box-- I decided to pull Malwarebytes out fully -- uninstall, delete any remaining processes, clear any registry entries, and remove the directory. Then I downloaded and reinstalled malwarebytes 3.06. After one full restart it's running OK now. Time will tell whether it continues. I'm sure it wouldn't have been possible for me to do what I did though without knowing what I was doing. This would be impossible for many users. I wish Malwarebytes uninstall worked better. I'll let you know if it continues to run ok. One curious thing though -- the original upgrade to 3.06 ran fine on the 8.1 box (it was an automatic one that was managed from within Malwarebytes itself) but a week later it asked for my registration details and then stopped being able to handle web protection from then on. Linda
  4. Actually it's a rather new 8.1 computer with almost nothing on it but Jabber, Firefox and OpenOffice and has never been used for much browsing (less than 1percent of the time) -- and that browsing has been restricted to about two sites I'm certain are safe. It is regularly scanned by Malwarebytes including full scans which are if course short since it gas a small drive. The machine has had both Mcafee and Malwarebytes on it since I set it up. If Malwarebytes is that fiddly that it can't be relied upon to install and keep running and upgrading on such a machine (and I know from these forums that I'm definitely not alone) I fear for the viability of Malwarebytes. I care about Malwarebytes and would like to see your product succeed since it's a young energetic company and the priduct can be truly useful but this latest makes me really worry. If it keeps on of course I'll just yank it off and reinstall the older version but that would be a shame. I'm finding that on top of a rather busy schedule I'm spending far too much time trying to get your product to work. Linda
  5. It's rather weird. My win7 is running the 3.06 OK mostly at the moment but I have to leave it disabled all the time on the win 8.1 box.
  6. I'm having the same problem. It started a few days after updating to 3.06 on both my win7 and win 8.1 machines. Nothing seems to solve it so I'm essentially running without Malwarebytes entirely. Luckily I have Mcafee on both boxes. It would be truly scary though if I'd trusted the Malwarebytes statement that we could rely on it as our sole protection.
