I think i can fix ur drive.
do a
START>RUN type in regedit
Here is the full how to from MICROSOFT
Step 1: Start Registry Editor
Start Registry Editor.
Step 2: Delete the UpperFilters registry entry
1. In Registry Editor, expand My Computer, and then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
2. Expand SYSTEM, and then expand CurrentControlSet.
3. Expand Control, and then expand Class.
4. Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
5. In the details pane of Registry Editor, on the right side, click UpperFilters.
Note You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only.
* If you see the UpperFilters registry entry in the details pane of Registry Editor, go to step 6.
* If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you still might have to remove the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to "Step 3: Delete the LowerFilters registry entry."
6. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
7. Click Yes when you receive the following message:
Are you sure you want to delete this value?
The UpperFilters registry entry is removed.
Step 3: Delete the LowerFilters registry entry
1. In the details pane of Registry Editor, on the right side, click LowerFilters.
Note You might see a LowerFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click LowerFilters only.
If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, unfortunately this content is unable to help you any more. Go to the "Next Steps" section for information about how you can find more solutions or more help on the Microsoft Web site.
2. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
3. Click Yes when you receive the following message:
Are you sure you want to delete this value?
The LowerFilters registry entry is removed.
4. Exit Registry Editor.
Step 4: Restart your computer
Restart your computer. After you have done this, try to access the CD or DVD drive. If you can access the CD or DVD drive, and if you do not receive an error message, the problem is resolved. You can reinstall your CD or DVD writing or recording software.

thats the advanced startup menu....hmmmm ill have to check which BIOS you have on that laptop.
HMMM
-
LOL
I meant like...do you have a C:\ drive and a D:\ drive when you look in MY COMPUTER?
oh and by the way, when you say that the cd drive doesnt work...is it PHYSICALLY BROKEN...or does the computer just not recognize it anymore? if thats the case, I may be able to help you fix that.
-
somewhere on the screen it should have MINOR instructions....it will say like +/- changes values or up/down or F5/F6 or something like that. LOL its always different between different BOIS'. but then hit ESC to exit...it may ask if you want to save and exit...yes....
If it says DO YOU WANT TO EXIT WITHOUT SAVING say NO!!! you may have to move all the way down to the last OPTION/TAB and select SAVE & EXIT or something like that.
If you cant figure it out, just exit without saving and let me know

how is your harddrive setup? is C your primary drive? is D the cd or is it a recovery partition?
-
wait, did u say D?
LOL oops my bad. I thought It said C:

IGNORE THIS POST LOL I HAD AN ID10T MOMENT XD
-
I dont really see anything TOO out of the norm...
Error 2/21/2009 1:11:19 disk None 7 N/A SAM
what does that disk error say? im doubting that had anything to do with it....
OH, and you asked about how to check the BIOS...whenever you restart the computer, the first screen u see as it is coming up is the BIOS screen (probably says like TOSHIBA or something like that) at that screen, it should say somewhere
HIT F2 FOR SETUP or something like that. May be a different key...hit the key it says to hit for setup and it will bring up the BIOS. HOPEFULLY the clock is on the first page and you can just check it and change it there...if it isnt...well, just let me know if it isnt lol
-
I ran CCleaner too, since that thing was deleting stuff. So I cleaned up the registry keys =3 All 110 of 'em XD;
good. I like CCleaner. I havent ever really had any issues with its Reg Cleaner or the normal cleaning

on the
Warning 2/27/2009 11:46:20 W32Time None 36
events, what do the properties show? Is it saying it was unable to sync?
-
WHERE DID I PUT MY XP CD!?!?!?! B)
OH NOEZ!! LOL
-
lol ok. Im CONSTANTLY watching the page here at my desk, so post up as soon as you can. Ill be waiting Im building a pc for a customer
-
Are you talking about WINDOWS updates?
-
the more I think about it...if your battery was bad, it would reset back to a DEFAULT TIME AND DATE each time you shut off the machine...this isnt the same...hmm
Try wat I said above and see if that helps.... If that doesnt work, it could be 3rd party software or MAL...NAAH couldnt be!
ALSO, check the event viewer ( do a START>RUN and type eventvwr )
look back on the SYSTEM and APPLICATION tabs and see if anything ODD is happening
that should keep you busy
-
AH laptop they can be easier or harder to repalce batteries (I was thinking Desktop )
So the BIOS was wrong? keep checking it from time to time and see if resetting it helped...
Is that time zone YOUR time zone? if not, change it to the right one just for the sake of doing it
That time that it says it was last synced on successfully....is that around the last time that the date changed? You may try disabling this feature (auto sync) just to try to see if it is grabbing incorrect info...just an idea
-
well, what time does it say in the BIOS?
Also, is the PC set to auto sync with any time servers?
lastly, did you actually try to replace the battery? it should just be a standard CR2032 battery...
