Resilient Anitvirus2008XP infection

Recommended Posts

I had Anitvirus2008XP on my system until recently, and while that particular infection seems to have been cleaned (not seeing the full package anymore, only about 7 of a total of 35 files detected), I'm still suffering the effects of other malware that continuously reappears after rebooting. It is only recreating itself when I'm connected to the internet after rebooting, not when my cable is unplugged. Malwarebytes seems to be able to detect it and clear it off, but its always back again after rebooting. It manifests as background and screensaver hijacking, plus I receive random alerts from Kaspersky for mysterious executables that are being launched in the background. Finally, Windows Firewall is finding similar problems at random times by giving alerts for a series of trojans it seems to be detecting. All this while my hands are off the keyboard so it's nothing I'm doing to cause it.

Here are the logfiles that were requested to help troubleshoot the problem: #1 Malbytewares, #2 Panda Activescan, #3 Hijackthis. Thanks for any help you can provide.

This morning I received a new update from SpyZooka which seems to have finally located the problem and successfully removed it. After rebooting I did another scan with Malwarebytes software (the most effective at detection before now) and it came up clean at last. So I think I can call this resolved and spare the rest of my hair from slowly being pulled out. I hope this information I provided will help with improving the definitions for the next update at least.

Thanks.
