Dmin11 Posted March 26, 2006 ID:950 Share Posted March 26, 2006 Hi Guys.....First time posting here although I've read through many of the help threads. Thanks for all the info in the past as I've been able to help out several of my co-workers remove spyware/malware from their comps .I'm "helping" another co-worker with a slow running comp and have already run through most of the basic removal programs, including:Ad-AwareSpyBot-Search and DestroySpy SweeperEwido Anti_MalwareI have run those all in safe mode along with a full AV scan with updated Norton AV 2006. Also run on-line scans from Bit-Defender and Panda. All have helped. I have also run the new version of "About-Blaster" and HS-Removal. Also in safe mode. However, I am still seeing a quick "About:Blank" label on IE as it closes every time. And the computer is running terribly slow so, I'm assuming that "About:Blank" is still running and eating up much CPU usage.I'm posting a current HighJack This in hope someone will be able to point out what else I can do to finish "cleaning out" my friends computer for her......Thanks in advance for all your help.....Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 12:58:10 PM, on 3/26/2006Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoctrl.exeC:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoguard.exeC:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exeC:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\IWP\NPFMntor.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exeC:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Security Console\NSCSRVCE.EXEC:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exeC:\Program Files\HighJackThis\HijackThis.exeR1 - Dmin11 Posted March 28, 2006 Author ID:955 Share Posted March 28, 2006 Hi Brandon, Thanks for your help. Evidently I didn't clean out the system as well as I thought. Ran everything per your instructions. Wasn't sure so I ran both in normal and in safe mode. Also per your instructions I am posting the reports you requested. As you will probably figure out after reading the reports ( I have faith in you....LOL) both the "About:blank" and the system slow down are still occuring. I await your next instructions.....Thanks again.....--------------------------------------------------------- ewido anti-malware - Scan report--------------------------------------------------------- + Created on: 10:50:02 PM, 3/27/2006 + Report-Checksum: B90105D + Scan result: C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\Cookies\patricia@2o7[1].txt -> TrackingCookie.2o7 : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\Cookies\patricia@doubleclick[1].txt -> TrackingCookie.Doubleclick : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\Cookies\patricia@msnportal.112.2o7[1].txt -> TrackingCookie.2o7 : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\Cookies\patricia@tribalfusion[2].txt -> TrackingCookie.Tribalfusion : Cleaned with backup::Report EndPanda Log...........Incident Status Location Adware:adware/sidestep Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\Application Data\MICROSOFT\INTERNET EXPLORER\QUICK LAUNCH\SideStep.lnk Spyware:application/bestoffer Not disinfected C:\WINDOWS\smdat32m.sys Potentially unwanted tool:application/myway Not disinfected HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MYWAY Adware:adware/sbsoft Not disinfected Windows Registry Potentially unwanted tool:application/altnet Not disinfected HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{CE9B37EC-D243-47A2-83DB-3A8350175193} Adware:adware/savenow Not disinfected Windows Registry Spyware:Cookie/2o7 Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\Cookies\patricia@2o7[1].txt Spyware:Cookie/Doubleclick Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\Cookies\patricia@doubleclick[1].txt Spyware:Cookie/Tribalfusion Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\Cookies\patricia@tribalfusion[2].txt Spyware:Cookie/2o7 Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\Cookies\patricia@2o7[1].txt Spyware:Cookie/Doubleclick Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\Cookies\patricia@doubleclick[1].txt Spyware:Cookie/Tribalfusion Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\Cookies\patricia@tribalfusion[2].txt Adware:Adware/SideStep Not disinfected C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SbCIe02a.dll Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 8:36:00 PM, on 3/27/2006Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoctrl.exeC:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoguard.exeC:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exeC:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\IWP\NPFMntor.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exeC:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Security Console\NSCSRVCE.EXEC:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exeC:\Program Files\HighJackThis\HijackThis.exeR3 - Dmin11 Posted March 30, 2006 Author ID:969 Share Posted March 30, 2006 Well, I'm suttably embarrased now. I knew the 128 mgs ram in this system was on the low side but didn't think it would slow it down that much. Plus, my friend seemed to indicate the computer was running faster before.I popped in an extra stick of ram and the computer is running faster now. Sorry for that mistake. However, I'm still seeing the "About:Blank" showing in the lower left hand corner of IE every time I change web sites. I ran the Kaspersky scan per your instructions....Extended Version with both options.
