Virus problems, please help

Recommended Posts

Hello. Today I received a Trojan virus or so and I am struggling to get rid of it. A while ago I had a similar virus and I ran malwarebytes anti malware and it worked perfectly. However this time it wont work. I tried to run MBAM and it didnt work, gave me an error message saying the exe file is infected, so I tried restarting my computer and running it right when the computer started and it finally ran, but the virus is still here even after doing several full scans. Then I tried downloading Avira anti virus but am not able to even run the set up file because every time I try to load it it prompts me to choose an application to open it with, probably due to the virus. I also tried doing a system restore (Im using Vista by the way), but it wont let me do that either. I am starting to feel totally hopeless and am getting desperate, can someone please help me out in eradicating this virus? Thanks in advance.

Hello David, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org :)

Sounds like you have a tough little bugger :)

I hope you have your UAC turned on on your Vista :)

Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process:

We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums.

Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help.

If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you.

Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button or erase what the person you are replying to said, as this makes the forum easier to read.

Thank you :)
