Virus Infection

Hi hope I am posting in the right place here. Been looking at a computer for a friend which was badly infected. Lost control panel, administrator account removed and Micro Bill account system installed. The operating system is windows XP. I have managed to remove everything and reinstated the admin account and control panel. However, I have noticed that when I go into run and try to type Regedit for example certain keys are replaced by numbers. The keys concerned are U,I, O for example?

Can any one help?

May be it's a laptop and the Fn button is pressed or enabled somehow.

That will make certain keys function like the numeric keys (rightside) on a "normal" keyboard.

Maybe keyboard set to QWERTY instead of AZERTY or vice versa?
