Some LAN access blocked - suggestions/requests

Probably since all traffic is going to outside servers first?

Trying to access files from shared folders on Windows computer from my Android is blocked.  I have to disable the VPN. 

1) Suggestion to allow all LAN traffic without interference (as is provided in the Windows version of Privacy)

2) Suggestion to provide a "pause" button in the Android persistent notification.  Ideally, configurable time to pause, eg, 10 min, 30 min, or until manually un-paused.
