Malwarebytes anti-malware won't open

Recommended Posts

What happened was, I opened it, but I had my internet plugged out. So I wanted to plug it back in to update the definitions, when I fumbled around in the dark and instead pulled out my electricity cable. So I restart the PC, first thing I do is open Mbam and.... it doesn't start. I wait a bit, thinking the PC is just busy - nothing happens. I try to open again. Nothing happens. I start chameleon. It can't open mbam even after the scan it does. When I try to reinstall, I get a whole bunch of runtime errors. I think the problem might be something else than mbam, but yeah, thought trying here was the first step at least. My other malware and virusscanners came out clean just an hour ago, and I've had my internet off of my PC for almost 24 hours (It's because of a thing with my provider who wanted me to do a whole bunch of scans before going on the internet). Is there someone who can help?

Hi:

The power "failure" may have corrupted or broken your MBAM installation.

Let's start with these steps:

  • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
  • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
  • NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

OTOH, if the reinstall doesn't resolve your problem and if you think you might be infected, you might want to start here: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers.

This pinned topic contains instructions on how to get free, expert malware removal help.

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Hello! Sorry it took such a while, I was away for the weekend (it was kind of decided I was needed last minute so I did not anticipate to not be home, lol....)

I just tried the first option and malwarebytes works again! A clean reinstall was all it took! I'm glad! I updated the database immediately and let it scan, everything is clean! Thanks for your help!
