  1. I tried to update to malwarebytes 3.3 and got error message: unable to create the directory c:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\is-B53HJ-temp So I uninstalled malwarebytes and attempted a new install but am getting the same message with the final entry after c:\... Local\Temp\is-ML350.tmp Sorry to bother but I have no clue what I'm doing and really use your software. Wish I hadn't monkeyed with it. Thank you. FRST.txt mb-check-results.zip mb-clean-results.txt
  2. I've still got the browser freezing with Firefox and Internet Explorer [never reinstalled Chrome]. The system is faster now but with use I expect it will slow down to a crawl as before. I don't know what to do but try a format and reinstall OS. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I've attempted to donate what I can afford but I don't think it went thru. I have to confirm with my cc company what I have done. I'm leaving on a 10 day road trip and will deal with it when I return. Thank you for your help.
  3. To my amazement, everything progressed as you described. Attached please find the mbr file from the usb. Guess I'm concerned that it is such a small file but I'm sure you will let me know if it doesn't contain the info. Thank you for your help and patience.mbr.zip
  4. No errors were reported when I ran disk check. I receive information from outside sources on flash drives. I scanned several with Malwarebytes and AvastAV scans. One produced the message: 'Rootkit.TDSS' followed by 'e:\setup50777.fon' Another flash drive scan showed: 'C:\Windows\System32\...\' followed by 'Viaagp.sys Rootkit:hidden' Don't know if this indicates anything. I know we scanned in regard to rootkits but can they be missed?
  5. The error persists--Firefox 6 and MS Internet Explorer lock up requiring restart [i didn't reinstall Chrome]. Do you think formating the hard drive would eliminate the problem? If so, can I save and transfer my files from the c drive? Thank you.
  6. Removed Chrome and Firefox using option to remove all settings. Restarted computer. Reinstalled Firefox 6. New installation locked up requiring restart and removal of parent lock from profile. Exactly as before.
  7. Here's the log. I've done this several times with the same result.
  8. sorry to take so long. I don't understand 'place Junction.exe in the Windows directory (C:\Windows)'. I've downloaded and extracted the junction.exe four times. When I try to run it the Run box flashes on the screen, then nothing. Guess my failure is in not understanding the placing it in the windows directory. I tried putting it in the C:\Windows folder and running it (hoping for some computer magic) but that didn't do anything.
  9. No Google Chrome freezes also [as before] google chrome is also freezing with the message: 'the following pages have become unresponsive. you can wait for them to become responsive or kill them.' Neither waiting or killing them works. Killing them causes you to exit Chrome but when you open it again it says: 'your profile could not be opened correctly. some features may be unavailable. please check that the profile exists and you have permission to read and write its content' This requires a restart.
  10. Runs faster, seemed OK but then back to freezing in Firfox, doesn't shut down and requires restart

Killing them causes you to exit Chrome but when you open it again it says 'your profile could not be opened correctly. some features may be unavailable. please check that the profile exists and you have permission to read and write its content' Guess I'm telling you all this because at first I thought my problems might be due to a recent update of Firefox. Thank you

  13. -System has slowed dramatically in an 'overnight' timeframe--especially noticed at shut down and opening programs [ms word] -Firefox 5.0 freezes up and doesn't close at exit requiring restart and eliminating 'parent lock' but locks up again while surfing, doesn't close, requires restart -Doesn't allow attempts to update or run Trend Micro scan and at least one other AV -I suspected problem might be a Firefox issue since I just updated but new install of Google Chrome locks up and doesn't shut down properly. I'm brand new to Chrome but I get an error message when I restart after closing from freeze up I've now run AVG antivirus scan and Malwarebytes scan in Safe Mode. Both indicated no infections but the AVG scan had about 15 locked files. I'll send these logs and whatever comes out of TDSSKiller run [right now I'm running a scan in IObit Malware Fighter] Thank you
  14. I wanted to say thank you in advance for any help you provide. I'm not knowledgeable with technology so this might be frustrating for you. dds.txt attach.txt
