@1PW Thanks, but that didn't work. Like I said, it sometimes hangs while scanning another DLL/EXE from memory, so Avira is not the culprit. I guess I'll just wait for the next version…

(I can't seem to edit the post above…) Just to note that the hard drive LED is constantly lit, and when Anti-Malware becomes unresponsive, the whole system does. It happened with heuristics disabled, and with another file listed at "currently scanning". Currently, V1.51.1 is unusable; skipping memory scanning also makes the system unresponsive.

V1.51.1 hangs here while scanning memory (the first step of Quick Scan), apparently at "C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\avguard.exe" (the window soon becomes unresponsive). I don't think it's Avira's fault, the previous version of Anti-Malware worked fine. Win Vista Business SP2.
