After rebooting via the power switch I would see the problem described in the following links: Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog Logon process has failed to create... The only time I have seen the behavior described in the links above was after having protection turned on in Malwarebytes Antimalware. I have removed Malware Bytes Antimalware from my PC.

Let me say first of all that I have used the free download of this program on at least a couple of occasions and was very impressed. So much so that I decided to purchase the full version of the program so that I could have the real time protection. Sadly, the program now hangs up the PC after as much as a few minutes to a couple of hours. This happens even if the program is doing a scan meaning that the only thing Malwarebytes Antimalware is doing is the background protection. The PC is locked up to the point where I cannot Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the Task Manager to terminate the service. I am unable to do an orderly shut down or restart. The only option at this point is a hard power down. In all other respects this Windows Vista system is stable and reliable. Without using this software I can leave the PC on for days at a time without any software issues. Needless to say, I am not happy to have spent the $25 for real time protection only to find that the real time protection hangs up the PC.
