  1. Dear MWB staff & experts, I'd appreciate getting help from you all for a Dell Inspiron M5040, Windows 7, MWB Free rev 2.2.0.1024. MWB is the only thing I can get to run, but even in Safe Mode w/ or w/out networking. Symptoms of this bug are: 1. Any click on anything is a grueling length of time, Safe Mode or not. 2. Was able to run Windows advanced repair options>Startup Repair, which helped for a moment, but still won't load everything in system tray. Every other time, boots to black screen after Windows login. 3. Programs run, but aren't seen (esp. Avira & MWB). 4. MS-DOS commands return to root of C: no matter what you type. 5. Can connect to the web, but network connections aren't visible in system tray...only getting into Networking via Control Panel. 6. Cannot pull up IE, so cannot browse web as it's the only browser. Tried Avira Free, loading off of CD, got it to install, but it fails w/ an error. MWB loaded off of CD, appears to update as red triangle goes away in systray, & will run but hangs in Pre-Scan, much like this original poster. Greatly appreciate your help!
  2. Thank you, that took care of it. I didn't switch on Terminal Services before, if that's what that is, since I'm not running thin or in a network/office situation where I need Terminal Services, but it appears that's my only recourse.
  3. Sorry, that's the Avira "incompatible" software scan, not "incompatibie". As well, won't run RogueKiller or anything else until one of the forum experts deems it necessary. Thank you!
  4. Having the same issue as a couple of other users I've found online & here in the forums. New rev doesn't allow you to check either of the active protections. I'm on Windows XP SP3 & using Avira Antivirus Premium. This occurred after I did a big Avira update & it's incompatibie software scan called out MWB, so I removed it & replaced it after the Avira update was complete. However, my Windows 7 machine didn't balk @ turning on these MWB protections after doing the same Avira update; i.e. it has the same revs of MWB & Avira AV Premium running. I've been through the routine described here... http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=116675 ...and since I've done so, I don't have any logs, so I just ran one & will include it here w/ the other recommended documents. Thank you for your help. CheckResults.txt dds.txt attach.txt mbam-log-2012-10-05 (11-17-33).txt
