I added the exclusions as shown in the link you provided, saved and rebooted the computer with the same error message. I then completely disabled the NIS 2009 program and the Norton Systemworks and tried to run update with the same error result. Short of uninstalling Norton, is there anything else to try?

I have Norton NIS 2009 and Norton System Works Basic installed.

I installed mbam v 1.46 earlier and get an error message of MBAM_ERROR_UPDATING(12150,0,WINHTTPQUERYHEADERS). i SAW THE EARLIER POST WITH A SUGGESTED FIX AND FOLLOWED THOSE INSTRUCTIONS WITH THE SAME RESULT. ANYONE HAVE A SUGGESTION? I am using the freeware version.
