  1. Please close this post. I found a tutorial on Bleepingcomputer.com that deals with this specific rogue anti-spyware program and how to remove it. Calls for disabling proxy server, running RKill, then doing a full scan with Malwarebytes. This seems to be a recent issue that started hitting the internet earlier this month. Thanks.
  2. I did it again. I got infected with an anti-virus program called
  3. Elise: The combofix uninstall worked just like you said. I also re-enabled the CD Emulator thru DeFogger and deleted all the programs I downloaded and all of the logs they created. I also installed and ran the SuperAntiSpyware program you mentioned in your last post. That scan also came back clean with the exception of some cookies. I re-booted a few times, ran my IE broswer and everything seems back to normal. I can also get the Windows Update web page again. THANK YOU VERY MUCH ELISE. AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE WITH THIS ISSUE. YOU ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST. Sincerely, Alfred
  4. Elise: When I did the below, it started running combofix again and making the registry chnages. For now, I'm assuming this is Ok and hitting "Allow", but is this normal? ?Click start > run and type combofix /uninstall, press enter. This will remove Combofix from your computer Thanks Alfred
  5. Elise: I ran the ESET scan and it picked-up one virus. I deleted the quarantine file identified. Below is the ESET log. Regarding the previous files that Symantec picked-up earlier (dev/s/loaderX.class, dev/s/dyesasZ.class...etc) that was located under the Java cache location, was that detection just a False-Positive hit? Thanks Alfred C:\System Volume Information\_restore{129201FA-B0AC-49B3-96B2-DEB8B91E727B}\RP2\A0010596.sys Win32/Olmarik.ZC trojan cleaned - quarantined
  6. Elise: Things are running well, no more re-directs and SVChost.exe is no longer trying to contact a malicious website, but after updating the Java program, I did a new MBAM scan as requested. Although the scan did not pickup anything, my Symantec auto-protect pick-up a Backdoor.tidserv.I!inf virus called Termdd.sys.vir, while MBAM was doing its scan. The virus was located in C:\Qoo\Quarantine. I then ran a full Symantec scan and it pick-up the following: dev/s/londerX.class, dev/s/dsasZ.class, dev/s/adgredY.class, 69290794-33a64797. These were located in application data\sun\Java\deployment\cache\6.0\20[/u]. I'm not sure if it is related to the Java update I did. I also ran a full Ad-Aware scan. While the Ad-Aware scan was underway, Symantec auto-protect again picked-up Termdd.sys.vir. I'm attaching the Symantec scan log and the MBAM log below. Are the above issues just remnants of the combofix? 8. Elise: One quick question, when I run Combofix with my anti-virus and anti-spyware disabled, should I also disable my internet (cable modem) connection? I'm just worried about having the connection without any active protection, since one of the symptoms is Ad-Aware continues to block a svchost.exe program from accessing a malicious website. Thanks Alfred
  9. Elise: I ran MBRCheck, but the program did not ask to enter "Y", or give me a choice of physical disk number to dump, or enter -1 to exit, or produce a .dat file. After it ran, it only asked to exit and produced a text file named MBRCheck_08.24.10_20.02.44.txt. I uploaded this file to Bleepingcomputers as asked (including the above http link). I'm also attaching it here for your information. Thanks Alfred MBRCheck_08.24.10_20.02.44.txt

  11. Elise: Thank you for your help. I was able to run the OTL scan. Below are the reports. I then ran GMER (disconnected from the internet and with active protection disabled). The scan took 9 hours to run. Is that normal? After the scan finished, I tried to save under gmer.log. That's when it locked-up again and gave me the "save" screen for 20 minutes before I had to do a hard shutdown. Also, at the completion of the OTL program, it reqested permission to change the registry. I hit "NO". I am not sure if that was the correct answer. Attached is the otlistit.txt and extra.txt file. I could not attach as text (giving me a connectin error), so I am attaching as an attachment file. Thank you again. Alfred OTL.Txt Extras.Txt
  12. for some reason, I can not attach the scan files with the original post. It is telling me that I have a connectin problem. 13. As a summary: 1) Ran full scans of Symantec, ad-aware, malwarebytes, spybot. 2) Detects items and deletes, but then it recurs. 3) After the 1st detection, I ran the scans with system restore disabled (which worked for me a few years back with recurring viruses). 4) Everything seemed ok, with the exception of a start-up message
