  1. Thank you. I assumed the balloon tip option was a genneral default option for all scheduled tasks, but it is clearly a per-task option.
  2. OK, I think I've found my own solution. I deleted the scheduled task and recreated it ensuring I unchecked the "tooltip balloons when a succesful scheduled update has been performed" box before adding the new scheduled task to the list. It appears a new sheduled task remembers the state the balloon tip box was in when the task was added to the list. This seems to have worked.
  3. As I stated, I wish to turn off tooltip balloons when a succesful scheduled update has been performed.
  4. Hi I cannot seem to turn off tooltip balloons when a succesful scheduled update has been performed. I uncheck the box but every time I return to the same tab - even after a reboot - the box is checked again. Any advice welcome. Thank you.
  5. Panic over! Safe mode did work and I managed to run MWB while there. I then rebooted and the system was fine. Thank you for all your help.
  6. It is a USB keyboard, yes. Luckily I have a PS2 keyboard stored away somehwere and a USB to PS2 adapter. I'll give it a shot in a short while as I have no access to the problem system right now. Thanks very much again.
  7. Ok, thank you for reassuring me. I will try booting in Safe mode. Yes, it does and if it is any help, I have already burned 'erd50.iso' to a CD as described in another thread. Thank you for your swift response.
  8. Hi guys, Sorry to put this on you, but; I installed and ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (mbam-setup.exe) to remove 'AntispywareXP 2009' as described here. It found around 50+ rogue files and I followed the instructions to remove them. I rebooted and 'AntispywareXP 2009' didn't appear to load on boot. However, I ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware a second time to make sure and it reported that it found 4 x trojan files (I noticed it said 'sytem32' on at least two of the entires). So I used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to remove as I did the first time and rebooted when asked. But... My system now won't boot. It gets as far as the WindowsXP screen with the animated loading bar and staight after it says 'no signal' as though the monitor is not connected, then it restarts and I'm asked if I want to choose my 'last know good configuration'. However, another problem is that the keyboard doesn't seem to want to let me choose an option on this screen either! Surely Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware wouldn't have removed the entire 'system32' directory would it? Please help. Any advice apprecited. Thank you.
