  1. thank you for all the information, I'm sure I will some day need to exclude such files when necessary to prevent system instability sorry for any confusion, but I wasn't trying to focus my previous thread on the virus false positive issue, but rather on the purpose of the mbam.sys file. what is its purpose? I have an mbam file running at startup and assuming its mbabm.sys,. like my previous questions, I want know what this file is. is it for quarantined files? or something else of the nature? and once again, thank you for you promptly reply.
  2. Hello, I have kaspersky on my computer and upon malwarebytes installation a message appeared saying that its trying to install a driver in a hidden way. C:windows/system32/drivers/mbam.sys. I'm assuming this is a false positive. But I'm still not completely sure as to what this driver is. what exactly is its purpose and why must/does it boot during start up. I read a little about it in google but no solid elaborated information was available. all I understood was that it was for protecting my system. and thats where the question comes in. is mbam.sys a anti-tamper file protector which protects malwarebytes files from being infected or changed by viruses? is it a type of active protection? or is it where quarantined files are stored?. what would be the downside of me disabling this mbam.sys from my startup files?
