  1. Can't update, period.

I have CA Antivirus disabled. I was using that software and somehow got a virus (this was before I loaded Avast). What's the point of using software that doesn't work like it's supposed to. CA is provided by my cable company free of charge but honestly, I'm not happy with it at all. The only component I use of that suite is the firewall. If I remove the entire suite I will lose my firewall software. I guess I could load Zone Alarm.

I'll take a look at it.

Thanks for the help but I do hope after looking at all of my logs, somebody finds what my problem is.

  2. I know it's only been 2 days but I thought I would have at least been sent a reply that someone was working on my problem. I'm not the most patient person in the world but I do see others being helped who posted after I did. Just wondering. I know there is a lot to look at from my machine. Won't somebody please let me know how much longer?! Thanks

  3. Getting the code below when I try to update, I've been sent here

Please keep in mind, I have not been able to update due to the error.

  5. I wasn't using Spybot or AdAware but since I can't get the updates I have resorted to have both of them operational.

Please go to My Controls then Edit Signature in Personal Profile to add information about your system like my signature so that pertinent information can be offered by helpers.

I do not use anything from CA and have not used Spybot S&D nor Ad-Aware since using Malwarebytes.

I use avast! V5.0.545 on my systems.

  6. Tony,

I use Avast 4.8 Home Edition for Anti-Virus

Anti Spyware by CA, Inc Version 9.1.0.22, engine version 5.6.9.5, sig version 5/14/2010

Personal Firewall by CA Inc Version 9.1.0.38, engine ver 1.2.276

OS Sys is Win XP Pro SP3

all updates available have been installed

I'm not sure, but I do know my computer is running very slow. I have minimal start up programs and processes.

I also have SpyBot and Ad-Aware that I use occasionally. I know it's overkill but stuff seems to get thru on occasion.

Thanks for all the help! :)

    @Sherrie

Would you mind telling what anti-virus / internet security/ firewall (and what version they are) and other security software are on your system?

And one more question: do you think is there any malware/ virus present in your system?

    @Dallas Michael

To avoid possible confusion, please make a new topic, and state the anti-virus / internet security/ firewall (and what version they are) and other security software your system is using in that topic.

    Thank you.

    --------------------

    Regards,

    Tony.

  7. Followed your instructions, program installed ok but still get the following error when I try to update:

    2010-05-13_191535.jpg

    Hello.

Please uninstall the current version of Malwarebytes via Add or Remove Programs applet.

    Reboot the system.

Then run this clean up tool and allow a reboot when prompted. If this tool displays an error, continue on with reinstall please.

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-clean.exe

Then reinstall the latest version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware(v1.46-just released) from the link below (downloads do not differ, registration with your ID & key activate the Pro features)

    http://fileforum.betanews.com/download/Mal...re/1186760019/1

Note: Ignore all 'Recommended' or 'Sponsored' software which is prominently displayed, they are ads and we do not have any association with them.

Save the file to your desktop then double-click it to begin installation.

Let us know if this corrects the problem you're experiencing. If the system is infected we will need to take additional steps.

  8. Sure, the first message I received is as follows:

An error has occurred. Please report this error code to our support team. MBAM_ERROR_UPDATING (122,0, MultiByteToWideChar). The data area passed to a system call is too small.

After uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling I received the following:

An error occurred. Please report the following error code to the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware support team. Error code 702 (0,453)

    Hello Sherrie,

Can you please post the error messages you're getting and not attach PDF documents.

    Thank you.

  9. I just reloaded your program. I was receiving an error when I tried to update. so, I uninstalled, rebooted, then reinstalled from a flash drive.

The program did an automatic update and I received a new error message when it was extracting files. I have attached both error messages.

Do I have a bug? What do I need to do next?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Sherrie :P
