    Mbamservice.exe crashed at 15:00:02, and I rebooted at 16:15.

After I get the crash, (which is only very occasional), I can't start or stop any programs, or even reboot. The only thing that I can do is to force a restart by pressing the reset button on the PC case. Everything will then run well for a week, month, or more.

I have two PCs, both of which are running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP 1, with MBAM, SAS and Microsoft Security Essentials. I have only had the problem on one of the PCs, which happens to be my Media Centre PC.

    Mike.

  2. This problem hasn't gone away. It happened again yesterday. I have also noticed other posts reporting similar symptoms.

  3. Hello Mainard.

I would like to help you to solve this problem, but I'm afraid that I can't follow your instructions.

The main problem is that I don't get a crash prompt.

The first symptom that I get is that programs won't start or TV recordings won't start or terminate properly (it is a Media Centre PC). The only thing that I can do is to press the reset button on the PC case. I only know that it involves MBAM is because I look in the Event Log.

If there are any other things that I can do to help, please let me know.

    Mike.

  4. Well, that hasn't cured the problem. It has just happened again.

  5. I have a Windows 7 64-bit Media Centre PC, with MBAM running, with protection enabled. I have it set to update every hour, on the hour. Several times, overnight, MBAM has crashed, and the time seems to coincide with an attempted update. After this, I can not run any programs, no TV programs record, and I can't reboot, without pressing the reset button.

The crash reported is the following:-

Faulting application name: mbamservice.exe, version: 1.51.0.28, time stamp: 0x4dcac365

Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000

    Exception code: 0xc0000005

    Fault offset: 0x55cccccc

    Faulting application start time: 0x01cc2850b5e08712

    Faulting module path: unknown

I am also running Microsoft Security Essentials and SuperAntiSpyware.

    Any thoughts?

    Mike.

  6. Good point. My excuse is that I am still finding my way round the software.

I tried that, and discovered something that may help. If I disable Protection, I still get the problem about fifty per cent of the time. However, if I disable IP Protection, I don't get the problem at all.

To make it clear, with IP Protection enabled, I get the problem, whether Protection is enabled or not. With IP Protection disabled, I don't get the problem, whether Protection is enabled or not.

  7. Since enabling MBAM protection, I often get an error when starting Microsoft Money, and Money closes. The error is "Microsoft Money Error Reporting has stopped working". The exception code is 0xC0000005 in module surfinet.dll. It doesn't happen every time. I can't find it mentioned on this forum, but other forums show people having the same error, caused by other anti malware applications.

I am running Windows 7 32 bit Ultimate, with Microsoft Security Essentials and SAS. Even though I am running Money 2005, it is the latest available in the UK.

I can't prove that it is caused by MBAM, but wanted to see if this sounded familiar to anybody, before I start uninstalling MBAM.
