  1. I've updated to 4, as you advised, so no longer have the issue but I still think users have varied reasons for keeping old versions on their machines and it is their decision whether to update or not, hence the setting they can adjust. It is an unacceptable precedent to adjust it for them after an update without their knowledge, it reminds me of Flash cookies several years ago which were secretly hidden away on your system until detected by users and the excuse was they were there because "users don't understand cookies" whereas I think in most cases users understood all too well what cookies did and weren't too keen to have them used for tracking...
  2. Thanks, Porthos, much appreciated. I still don't think user settings should be altered without the users permission on principle though... thanks for your help :)
  3. I would not say that this was necessarily a "Technical Issue" it seems more like a misguided policy decision to reset users preferences without their consent?
  4. I am using Malwarebytes Free 3.2.2 on a Windows 7 legacy system and during the past month I have found that under "Application Updates" my preference under "Automatically Download and install application component updates" which is set to "Off" keeps being changed to "On" after every manual database update. I had to reinstall my entire system a few weeks back to get it back the way I wanted after Malwarebytes updated without my consent and now I have to remember to check to set this back to "Off" every time I perform a database update so I want to know why this has started to happen over the last month and how to stop it happening as it is a real nuisance?
