  1. Indeed! I'm well aware of TSs reputation. The interesting thing is, I've had great luck and success with the TS, as long as I don't o'"overburden" it, if you know what I mean ;).
  2. Well, I had another bad computer day with several lock ups, doggy performance, and resources maxed out. The only change in my computer usage has been the addition of Malwarebytes. FYI I have a 2015 Toshiba Satellite, which I would probably upgrade if it wasn't running so well. I removed Malwarebytes for a 2nd time, and the TS performance has improved and returned back to pre-Malwarebytes levels. That's not to say that Malwarebytes is a bad program. I'm sure it works well for most all users. It just did not work this time on my antiquated system. Thanks again to all for your invaluable assistance, and the invaluable ad blocker recommendations. Cheers! DD
  3. Well, after some additional troubleshooting, I was able to get Malwarebytes to launch. I first had to remove the Malwarebytes icon from the taskbar, and then I could launch the program from the start menu. I then re-added the Malwarebytes icon back to the taskbar, and now the program launches from there as well.
  4. I forgot to add, I reinstalled Malwarebytes to give it one more try. I liked the program, and I wanted it to work as an online second defense. Alas, it has not.
  5. Well, the problems continue. The free Malwarebytes trial expired yesterday. Now, I cannot get Malwarebytes Free to launch no matter how I try. I blame myself and my bad luck. The problems never stop.
  6. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
  7. The interesting thing is, after deleting the extension, I was still unable to view YouTube videos. I had to do a hard reboot to get Yahoo to work again. So, the freebie leftd its mark even after it was banished from my browser.
  8. Thanks to both of you for your help. I did try one of the freebies, and it conflicted with Youtube, so I removed it immediately.
  9. Thanks for your reply. Since posting my message, I did find the following...let me know your thoughts on these 3 free VPNs.... Get Unlimited Free VPN on Google Chrome | Best 3 Extensions (2020)
  10. Guys, what is the best, most effective free VPN extension to use with Chrome, and in conjunction with the ad blockers mentioned/discussed in this thread? I'm trying to beef up my security and privacy without having to spend a ton of money on subscriptions. Thanks in advance for your help.
  11. A must read for every PC user. Comprehensive and effective. Thanks for compiling such a useful document. Cheers!
  12. Thanks for the prompt response! Ill stick then with AdBlock Plus.
  13. Disregard my last post. Somehow the message got posted before I had a chance to finish my inquiry. Ill try again. I run IE version 11 on a very limited basis, for some of its unique capabilities that I still find helpful. Can uBlock Origin be used with IE11? I would acquire from The Microsoft Store Thanks very much in advance for your assistance.
  14. I run IE version 11 on a very limited basis, for some unifeatures that I still find helpful.
  15. Thanks again for the uBlock Origin recommendation!! Brilliant program that blocks all the junk!! Running Disk Cleanup following uBlock Origin installation now shows a dramatic decrease in temporary internet files.
  16. Thank you. One final question. Does uBlock Origin update automatically ??
  17. That was a dumb question...too much of a drain on resources, slowing down the browsing experience??
  18. Got it!! Thanks. Stupid question...would running all 3 be deleterious to my PC in any way? Overkill?
  19. Ublock origin superior to Adblock Plus? Can Ublock origin be run side-by-side with Malwarebytes Browser Guard?
  20. No. My computer was clean. I try to meticulously maintain my equipment. WD seems to do an adequate protection job. For the record, I still use Malwarebytes Browser Guard, in conjunction with Adblock Plus. Works beautifully together.
  21. No. I just ran/run WD. I've now switched back to WD w/its complete real time protection after removing Malwarebytes earlier this morning. Take care.
  22. Thanks to both of you for your help. Respectfully, I no longer have the time, patience, or desire to pursue this after all of the difficulties this program has caused me. I had no issues with my PC before installing Malwarebytes, and I figured I'd try it again as a second line of on-demand defense. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a complete and utter disaster. I blame myself for that decision, and I also take responsibility for my decision. Regrettable, it is something I never should have tried. Best of luck to all. DD
  23. This has turned into a nightmare. I have chosen to remove Malwarebytes from my system because of the headaches it has caused. I am very sorry and regretful for having tried it again. Best of luck to all. Good bye.
  24. Using Task Manager, I terminated the "Malwarebytes Tray Application", then clicked on the "Malwarebytes" icon, and the program launched/loaded. So that is the workaround Im now having to use just to get the program to work. What a nightmare this has become! 🤦🏻 🤷🏻‍ 😭
