Unfortunately, the reason for finding my way to these forums is not a good one...As of 5 or so days ago, I seem to have caught the dreaded Rootkit TDSS virus. How do I know this? Well, The five days ago, I mentioned earlier, I was downloading something off a torrent (No, not porn) and my computer started acting sluggish, that was then followed by a fake anti-virus program saying I was infected with a trojan virus, the computer then made a squealing noise, i kid you not, a squealing pig sound effect. I knew i was screwed so I downloaded an anti-virus program (Spyware Doctor) and It painted an ugly picutre..After one scan my computer was revealed to have numerous problems, one of them being the Rootkit TDSS virus. I didn't know what this was until i did my research, and true to form the virus did not go away, even after numerous fixes using Spyware Doctor, Malware Bytes, and Norton Anti-Virus. I am truly at the mercy of this virus, and I'm hoping a kind Sir or Madame out there will be able to help. You'll have to bare with me, since my knowledge of computer related problems, and there effects, are minimal at best. Here's the rundown on my system, I have a Dell Dimension E521, and I use Windows Vista.
