  1. Gmer.exe ran for about 20-30 minutes and then closed itself and went back to the desktop. I think I'll just start saving for a new computer. Any more ideas would be appreciated, but I'm starting to move from bargaining to acceptance. Thanks, Byro

  3. So I followed the instructions I was given by Yardbird. Installed Avira: scanned, came up with quite a few different problems (around 20), "fixed" the issues, then shutdown the computer for the night. Started the computer this morning, Avira wouldn't scan and this error comes up : An error occurs in the scheduler. Error test: The program to execute is invalid or destroyed. Error code: [3]. Installed HJT: Started a scan with logfile being saved, closed after a couple of seconds. Try to reopen HJT and get the Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. I am logged on as an admin. Waiting for further instructions.
  4. Alrighty, so I've read a few of the posts from different users that seem to be having similar problems as myself. I am not computer literate, but can read, and function at a mediocre level. At one time I had Malwarebytes, AVG, Spybot S&D, Adware Anniversary ( I think ), CCleaner and HiJack This.... I recently manually deleted the files known to be used by the Bravaix.exe virus. I still cannot open Malewarebytes, ,I'm getting the: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, ,or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." notification. CCleaner still works, AVG does not, and I've uninstalled the rest of my arsenal. Also, I have some sort of Auto Redirect virus going on. Ummm, its a friends old computer so I'm not very familiar with it... Looking forward to any and all advice, tips, help I can get ! ....even if you tell me I'm screwed...then at least I can go buy a new computer. Thanks in advance I will try to be as competent as possible.
