  1. Thank you ever so much! I will check out, and follow, your advice. ps. Sorry for the delay in replying - I had to sort a family crisis, which is, I hope, now resolved like my compuiter problem!
  2. Well, could you tell me what the problem was, please? Like, was it a virus on my computer? What were the things you asked me to download and run? Were they some kind of repair tools? Is there anything I can do to stop the problem happening again? Obviously, I don't absolutely need to know, as the problem is fixed, but it would be good to know what was causing it. Thanks!
  3. Hello, So, I've just done a Malwarebytes scan and it's completed successfully (without shutting down my computer as it did before), and not detected any problems. Does that make sense to you? Is that what should have happened??? I've attached the report of the scan (even though there doesn't seem to be much infornmation in it at all). Thanks (again) for your help. 4. Hi, I've only just seen your reply. Do you need to be online when I'm doing the scan? I'll start one now and report back. However, if you need to be there while I'm running a scan, just let me know when you want me to be online to do it. Thanks!
  5. Sorry for the delay in replying - I didn't get an email notifying me about your reply. I assume that by "In the main box please paste in the following script:" you meant the script in the box above the instructions on how to do the scan. I'd ignored the box as - on my computer at least - it appeared above the instructions, and there was a blank after "... please paste in the following script:", so I assumed I just left the box blank before starting the scan. Anyway, it's re-done now, and the report should be attached. By the way, I had to re-boot to complete the scan, I don;t know whether that's relevant or not. Thanks again for your help. zoek-results 19 December.txt
  6. Hello, Sorry. What have I done wrong? What should I do to correct it, please? Post the scan result into a reply box like this, instead of attaching it? Thanks, Apsara2010
  7. Hello, Thanks for your help. I've done as you advised, and I have attached the results. zoek-results.txt
  8. Hello, I've been advised to post my problem here. Basically, every time I do a Malwarebytes scan, everything seems to be fine, until the scan is almost at the end of the heuristics scan, then my computer closes down (and restarts, in Windows Error Recovery). As instructed elsewhere, I've done the Farbar scan and the results are attached. My computer is an HP6735s, running Windows Vista 32-bit. I have AVG anti-virus installed, as well as Malwarebytes. AVG hasn't picked up any issues. I recently installed (a legitimate version of) Office 2010 and that caused problems - my computer jammed while trying to install 42 updates (a nice person on the MS forum, thankfully, helped me sort that). My computer is a bit slow, but that may be because it's old and getting quite full, and it done some weird things recently, like un-attach windows without me knowingly doing anything (if I'd opened an internet link in a new window, for example), although that may be down to me being tired and/or not controlling the mouse properly. Does anyone have any thoughts, please? However, I'm afraid I am one of those people who is so tech savvy they need someone to spell things out in words of one syllable - "See that little button at the top with the vertical dash in a little circle? See it? Yes? Well that's the thing you have to press to turn the computer on..." that kind of thing. But if anyone is brave enough to try to help, that would be so great. Thanks! 9. Hello, daledoc1, Thanks for the advice - I'll give it a whirl. Sorry for the delay in replying - I've been using someone else's computer until I felt brave enough to tackle whatever issue there is on mine, which, I hope is now! Thanks again, Apsara2010
  10. I last did a scan about a month ago and everything seemed fine. Today, though, I installed the latest version of Anti-Malware Free (2.0.4.1028) and installed the latest version of the updates - v2014.12.09.05. I started a scan and left my computer alone. About 40 minutes in I noticed the computer was restarting. I thought it was weird, but continued with the re-start process (I figured the scan had completed and automatically restarted my computer). But just in case, I did another scan and the same thing happened again, only this time, I saw the notice about "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown"; I opened the error report thing but it doesn't mean anything at all to me. I started the scan again and watched it (the most interesting 40 minutes of my life!). Everything was ok, until the scan was part-way through the last bit, the heuristics scan, and that's when, without warning, the computer just shut down and restarted. My computer is an HP6735s, running Windows Vista (no idea which bit or whatever). I have AVG anti-virus installed, as well as Malwarebytes. I recently installed (a legitimate) version of Office 2010 and that caused problems - my computer jammed while trying to install 42 updates (a nice person on the MS forum, thankfully, helped me sort that issue).
