Ok, Sorry for the delayed response but.... This time I had a virus not the computer ... As for the adwarecleaner file it was just an empty folder on desktop so I deleted it. The list of files looked fairly innocuous from the log on folder to me... Philip

OK so I just re-checked and saw I had AdwCleaner still on my desktop. I deleted this program and re-booted and it seems to start with just a very short black screen maybe two seconds...

Hi Mr. C., I did everything you recommended on your last post but now when I re-boot the screen goes black with a white pointer for about 30 seconds before windows loads... Other than that everything works well. Any ideas?

Wow, Finally got the internet settings re-set. That was preventing me from loading the sites you linked. All is well in Phil land now

for some reason my browser will not let me open any links on a web search??? I cant open those attachments you sent either... I'm pretty sure its a simple setting, can you help with that so I can download security check?
