  1. So after reading your Preventive Measures, I have installed: MSE MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Free (but getting PRO) Windows Firewall SuperAntiSpyware Free WOT Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit HitmanPro's CryptoGuard Thanks again for all your help!
  2. Thanks so much for all your help!! I really appreciate your patience and clear & in-depth explanations and information. I especially loved the Preventative Maintenance post. Thank you!!!

  3. Can anyone tell me how to delete system restore points in Windows 7? Thanks
  4. Thanks. I will try that tomorrow.
  5. That's what I gathered too. That the 3 files were put in every folder. Ugh. I was playing around and went to drive C and in the search box I typed HOW_DECRYPT and it found 1,098 files. I haven't deleted them yet, but I can select all and then delete and I think that will take care of those. My files were encrypted. I can't get my WORD, PDF, EXCEL, and some images. I know I probably won't be able to restore and that's okay because I don't keep a lot of really important stuff on my computer. I'll probably try at some point to restore to a previous version. I just need peace of mind that there is no virus anymore. When the Norton guy was looking at my computer via web chat, he did a dummy document and saved it and opened it and it wasn't encrypted. Oh, the Malwarebytes Quarantine tab has 5 files. A Trojan and PUPs. It says they are listed because they were found and removed. Should I go ahead a delete those in the tab? Thanks again for all your help. I know I keep thinking of questions and I apologize. I most definitely will donate and write a review for you. Thank you!
  6. I'm sorry, I'm paranoid. My computer is clean now right? I just need to delete the DECRYPT docs?
  7. No, it's not the encrypted files. Thanks for the reading. I'll read up on that tonight! Thank you!

  10. I did what you suggested. I now have the updated version of Java. Thanks! I did notice that I still have documents from the virus on my computer. I thought I had deleted them all. It made 2 docs and an 1 internet shortcut in nearly every file folder on my computer. Even folders I didn't know existed. Right now, I'm going in one by one and deleting them. Do you know of a way to remove them that's faster? And just because they are there doesn't mean my computer is still infected right? I attached a screen shot so you could see.
  11. I will do this as soon as I get home. Thanks so much for all your help!!! Fingers crossed after this I'm finished. lol. :)
  12. Thanks! I think I may uninstall the MSE and reinstall the Norton. Also, my java constantly pops up saying "Do you want to allow this program to make updates to your computer hard drive?" I usually say yes, but it seems like it's constantly popping up. What exactly does java do and do you know of a way to make sure it's up to date? Oh, one more question, if I switch back to Norton, can I run this security check and make sure all is well or what do you suggest? 13. The icon suggestion didn't work (it was already on small icons) so I decided to play around before messing with the gadgets. I went to Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, Display and selected small (default). It must have reverted to medium when I rebooted after running the TDDSKiller. But, selecting the small option fixed it. My screen is now back the way it was. And my gadgets fixed themselves too after I selected the small option and logged off and then back on. So, yay for that! Thanks for all your help! I will wait for further instructions. :)
  14. Yes, I think I did all the steps. Should I do something else?
  15. yup, don't know what it was, but IE wasn't working, but now that I reset it like you said, all seems to be well again. I have one question, since running the TDSSKiller, it didn't ask me to reboot a 2nd time like in the directions. And when I rebooted the first time, it made my computer weird. The icons are all bigger than they were and the gadgets on the side of my screen are faded out, and in purple. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks a bunch.
