I think I fugured it out. I was logged in my sons account, and he is not an admin. Now I am loggen into my windows login and no issues. Make sense?

I followed all of your instructions. I use Zone Alarm and Microsoft Security Essentials. I have been using the free version of MBAM for over 5 years and have never had this issue. Still cannot update. Not sure where to enter any exceptions however, although have never ever had to do this before. What changed?

I downloaded the latest free version but now cannot get updates manually. The option is greyed out. Help? I am running Zone Alarm however I always have with no issues.
