unable to connect to wireless/unable to update avg

The other night my laptop went into hybernation but had been acting up with ie8. It started up but I kept losing my connection to the wireless. I ended uo uninstsalling ie8, then the updated avg. It rolled back to ie6 but then I could not access the wireless connection. I downloaed network stumbler and am able to see all the connections through that including my own. I tried to get the intel pro wireless to work but it would not so i reinstalled - nothing. I then connected to the internet with a cable, no issue, but i cannot install avg so I tried avanest but it won't connect either.

I have tried everything with no luck. I can't connect to the wireless though now it it showing there are networks found but it won't list them nor allow me to connect and if i try to install avast I get:

I am frustrated, can't get anything to work and am actually contemplating buying a new laptop so I can use wireless again and the interenet and be protected!!
