Those were the instructions I initially tried. The errors still appear with AVG disabled. This is an older PC I haven't had time to update the AVG on it, but I will be doing that shortly!
MBAM Error: "[Open Event] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code: 2
Event Viwer codes:
Source: Service Control Manager
Event ID: 7000
The MBAMProtector service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
Source: Service Control Manager
Event ID: 7001
The MBAMService service depends on the MBAMProtector service which failed to start because of the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
Any other ideas?

When I install MBAM initially the Protection option works, but once I restart it, when MBAM loads it gives me an "Error Code: 2" and then an "Error Code: 1068". This PC has AVG 8.5 installed, but I followed the directions on the FAQ on how to excempt MBAM files and did a clean uninstall, and a fresh install with AVG disabled. The install worked great, but when I reboot the same errors occur.
Any ideas on what to try next? I'm going to get a PROCMON stat on it to help diagnose what the issue is. I tried installing MBAM to a custom folder to see if that will resolve the issue. If it doesn't work, I'll post a screenshot of the PROCMON log.
Thanks!
Error Code: 2 & Error Code: 1068

I was recently infected with Windows XP Recovery Virus, did a system restore and cleaned up with bootable SOPHOS AV disk, and finished cleaning with MBAM
Only left-over issue from system restore was hidden files which I ran UNHIDE to fix.
Currently not showing any signs of infections.
