  1. done, I have a question though. With remote access disabled in my router, is someone still able to compromise it? Is there any way to scan the other wifi enabled devices on my network to discover if anything has been compromised? I understand you're focusing on workstations here, and I think we've done everything we can but there still seems to be issues somewhere. If other devices are compromised, nothing I do on any one computer will help. Any thoughts are appreciated. Also, is there anything I should be running in addition to malwarebytes and defender as a precaution? Thanks for your help
  2. I have a question then, I use onedrive that syncs my files automatically. Would there be any concern that those files are infected? When I set up the laptop again those files will automatically sync in the clean install.
  3. Should I start with a fresh install of windows? Keeping the files would likely only copy the issue I believe, but I need to do something here. Apps aren't working any more
  4. I get this alert when I try to run it Windows protected your PC Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk. App: FRST64.exe Publisher: Unknown publisher Windows protected your PC Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk. 5. I was running the tool and then this trojan alert popped up, windows defender said it removed it. should I run farbar again?
  6. No, but internet drops and is disrupting websites, send/receive email etc. I've replaced the router yesterday and had a new hard line run to my house 5 days ago. Which is why I thought it was my computer but it's not that obviously. Could there be anything else behind the router that could disrupt my internet signal from passing through? That's why I thought it was a proxy thing. Last question, I'm running MB on every computer in my house (5 I think) could something be on one of those computers that is affecting the whole system? Thanks again
  7. Could there be a proxy issue? I expect that all these tools would have detected a proxy virus or similar?
  8. Awesome thanks. I was able to do most of those settings on the router, I made the SSID unbroadcasted rather than change for every device in the house though. I couldn't select ports to block the ports, at least with the settings I saw there but maybe I'm missing something? It sounds like there was no infection found though?
