  1. Dear Kevin, I tried to reply last night, to another respondent who offered the same advice but it would not allow me to post. I ran the threat scan which as usual came up with zero threats. My antivirus would not allow me to access farbar due to a signature that didn't meet their approval. Then I read the blog, and it seems that that recommended "fix" is fraught with problems. Inasmuch as I'm not even certain who is offering this advice, I'm reluctant to introduce a questionable download into my computer and further exacerbate the problem. Thank you for responding, but, for now I will probably hold still and hope this ghost just disappears. Best regards, Cathy
  2. There are no files. Just the message that protection is turned off. Everything I try to turn it back on fails. All the scans say zero malicious activity. But there is something that's causing a severe slowdown and "seizures" I don't know how else to describe it. suddenly screens start stacking up. Hundreds of them one on top of the other out of control , so fast it's unreal, sometimes the computer just goes black then restarts with the message that it hadn't had a proper shutdown. But sometimes there is no way to stop it except to pull the battery. There is nothing in the event log, nothing on Webroot scans and nothing on Malware scans. I took it in for service, but it wouldn't fail while they had it and there was no evidence of these catastrophic events. Can anybody tell me how to stop these things from happening? I have a 3 year old Dell computer, run windows 7, intel , Webroot antivirus and Malwarebytes premium. Help!
