I have something on my computer that redirects me to phony search sites when I try to click on a link after I Google. Neither MBAM or Avira are detecting it. I also periodically get phony antivirus programs that I have so far been able to remove, but I think whatever program is causing the search engine hijack is also putting these programs on my computer. Never mind, I managed to get rid of it by re-downloading MBAM, changing the name to winlogin.exe, installing it, changing the name of MBAM.exe to winlogin.exe, and running it. I had to try each of these things several times, as the computer would freeze in the middle of the installation/scan/removal of the malware after the scan, but eventually it worked.
