I've run out of ideas. Avast, Combofix, MWBAW, CCCleaner......name it and I've probably tried it.
In Firefox/Opera, when I click in a window, I can't click anywhere else except that window unless I alt/tab (which is starting to work less and less...) In Chrome, if I try to click on a tab, it will close it instead of opening it. Physical memory is always at 1g active, performance is usually artificially high....computer takes abnormally long to start up, etc.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

It appears that it was a defective mouse (?????) as I reconnected my touch pad and the pad has no issues, while the mouse still does it. Thank you for your help.
