Thanks for the rapid response. While I see the box that requires unchecking, can I just ask what the difference is, between that bob and the 'exit' one?

Thanks for your reply. In order to download and run a program (ComboFix), I have been asked to disable my security and am unsure whether to disable the 'protection' in Mbam or exit altogether. Any ideas?

If you are seeking advice from someone (hopefully someone that is trained) to run combofix, please direct these questions to the helper.

If the person directing you to do these items is not an expert for say... then you should seek help from the experts on this forum by posting in the appropriate section. Since someone is asking you to run combo fix that would lead me to believe you may be infected.

Please follow the instructions below

If you think you are infected, here are the steps needed to get your computer cleaned....

Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process:

Don't use any temporary file cleaners unless requested - this can cause data loss and make recovery difficult

Sorry, I should have explained. I do have the paid-for version and I am getting help from Mbam direct by e-mail. That said, there are some things that I dont quite grasp, disabling my security being one of them. I have been given links but, being unable to understand the contents, decided to visit the various sites,(Mbam, Avast and SAS), in the hope of getting clearer instructions. This has paid off because I can now disable all 3.

PS I am still not sure about any factory installed security disablement.

Hi trying50

As you are getting help in Support via email and have additional questions, please ask the tech you're working with.

MBAM does not interfere with a run of ComboFix. The best way to disable it completely, to more directly answer your question, is

Right-click the system tray icon and UNtick the following:

Enable Protection

Website Blocking

Start with Windows

Select 'Exit' and you should get an message window asking if you want to disable it.

To enable it afterwards, open up Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, click the 'Protection' tab and then click the 'Enable Protection' button, and recheck all the options.

Thanks to you tetonbob,I now know how to disable Mbam. However, given that you have said that I should put further questions to the tech handling my case, and also that Mbam does not impede Combofix, I will now ask the tech if I can just leave the program enabled. Thank you once again for your help.
