Quick Question - Should we be running the various utilities in Safe Mode?

I have been asked to run various stuff like the malware scan, dds, combofix, and now tdskiller.

Just to clarify, should I be running these utilities in regular windows Normal Mode or should I be running them in Safe Mode?

Hi and Welcome,

You should run any utilities you are asked to run in Normal Mode unless given specific instructions by your trusted Advisor/Expert to do otherwise.

Usually Safe Mode is only resorted to if there are problems running the troubleshooting programs in Normal Mode.

Please do not run Combofix on your own - the person assisting you will decide if it is warranted and give you customized instructions on how to scan with it.
