Is this a complete Scan?

Recommended Posts

I am using the free version of malwarebytes, and I just tried to do a full scan of my PC. The scan only took 15 seconds to complete, and only scanned 1649 objects. This does not sound correct to me. The log info is as follows:

Can anyone suggest anything to get a full scan to run?

Not sure whats up then, but you can try a clean install of Malwarebytes. Using the steps below will take out any changes that may have been made to Malwarebytes. If you have the PRO version you will need to have your ID and Key handy to re-register the program.

Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here

    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

If you have now reinstalled to Firefoxs' directions. Open the Main face of the program and click Scanner.

Next click Full Scan. Make sure there is a Dot in the Middle Dial (Perform full scan).

Often the program has not fully installed and requires a reinstall as per instructions above.

Please let us know if the problem is now solved, or we can offer more help -

Hi noknojon,

I've uninstalled mwb using the mbam-clean.exe program, rebooted, de-activated my antivirus and reinstalled mwb. I still seem to be having the same problem.

I just ran a full scan that took 18 seconds and scanned 1871 objects. My suspicion is that I have an infection that is tricking mwb into not scanning all objects because I've been able to run several complete scans prior to experiencing this problem earlier this week. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm using the free version of mwb. Is there a limited number of scans you are able to run using the free version?

Just to answer your question, No, there is no limitation on the free version on how many times you can run a scan on your computer. The Free version is fully functional, you just have to do manual updates and scans with the free version.

As for you thinking it may be an infection, below you will find the instructions of what to do to have it checked by the experts (all for free).

If you think you are infected, here are the steps needed to get your computer cleaned....

Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process:

Don't use any temporary file cleaners unless requested - this can cause data loss and make recovery difficult
