I already have the paid version of MBAB on my desktop.

I put the 30-day free trial on a notebook I was given approximately 2 weeks ago, but it's already telling me my trial runs out today. I really don't trust this notebook yet enough to enter my credit card numbers and such on it. I have two questions.

Can I purchase the program from this desktop and just use a flash drive to transfer the info over to the notebook?

If this notebook goes down on me right away, which is possible, can I still use this license I am purchasing on another computer?

I think I know the answer to these questions but every time I assume I'm smart something goes wrong. :P

Hoping someone will get back to me today since the trial expires today.

Thanks

Hi, Nikilet:

Yes, unless I am mistaken, you can make the online purchase for the notebook from the desktop.

You will receive an email with the new license ID and key.

Just use that information to register your trial version of MBAM PRO on the notebook.

In addition to keeping and printing copies of the purchase confirmation emails from Cleverbridge, it's a good idea to write down someplace safe the license ID and key info for both rigs, and make sure that you note which license info belongs on which computer.

For example, I clearly label my written records & my email printouts as "desktop" and "laptop", so I know which one is which if/when I have to reinstall.

Each license is for a lifetime, but only for 1 computer each.

So, it helps to keep track of which license belongs to which computer.

It's easier than trying to chase down the info from Cleverbridge or even MBAM Customer Service or digging the info out of your computer's registry.

An MBAM staffer will correct me, if I'm wrong.

HTH,

What we offer is a 14 day (two week) trial, not 30 days, that's why it ran out when it did.

Yes, that would be fine if you wish. You can make the actual purchase from any computer you like and then copy the license info from the email they will send you after the purchase to a text document, then transfer the text document to the other system that you want to actually install the license on.

If this notebook goes down on me right away, which is possible, can I still use this license I am purchasing on another computer?

Absolutely, as long as the same license isn't active on 2 computers at once you'll be fine.

Incidentally, if you want free, expert assistance in making certain that the laptop is cleaned then you may do the following:

Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then create a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one on one assistance when one becomes available.

Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help.

If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you.

If you prefer to be assisted via email you may contact support@malwarebytes.org and one of our support staff members will assist you directly.

I plan to keep this very valuable information on help with getting a computer cleaned up.

I worked with someone in the Avast forum who had me go through quite a number of steps -- some program called OTL, ComboFix and another one i can't remember, in addition to Avast Internet Security (boot scan performed)and in the end the technician pronounced the laptop clean. I scan every time I have it open with Avast (Internet Security 6) and MBAM, and I also do on demand scan with SuperAntispyware. I'm just really paranoid because it was so infected when the process started that I never hoped to get it clean enough to even use.

Thanks so very much for your time and interest.
